rain is character developing and forms the elemental lynchpin in understanding Britain and Ireland, if you become comfortable spending all day in rain what more does anyone need? deserts? Florida swamp? Rome?

exotic is here, where it's always been, in the damp moss, along dog excrement plastered paths and broken playground games

I had Covid toe, arguably the most severe form of covid, in early April 2020. Didn’t know it was covid toe at the time, but it makes more sense than what I’d previously thought (that I had sunburnt my toes. In England. In April).

isn't that every day over there?
It absolutely fucking slashed it down in Devon today, but I still drove us all to Torquay like the hero-dad I am, so that the wee one could experience DINOSAUR WORLD (he had a great time, obviously, but actually all three of us did). He got a new spinosaurus to add to his already large dino collection, and fish and chips for lunch in a proper restaurant.

English seaside resort towns in the middle of winter are weird, but not necessarily unrewarding, places to visit.

... and how do you feel now you had it?
relief that it finally caught up with you after all this fussing about it for 2 years?
and relieved that you turned out not to be one of the 1% who don't make it?
do you feel a bit robust now?

Not yet, although the number of infections are so low in Tokyo compared to other places and I only know a few people who have had it. Think Japan's luck might be about to run out though with omicron.

hungover, from being out of practice for awhile? or corona sick?
I couldn't breathe. It's possible @woops has feathers in his flat cos they fuck me up really really badly. I don't suffer much from hangovers as a rule. It could be a corona thing but I felt absolutely fine while I had it.

The omnicron might be a viable path to herd immunity though so holding out till then might be very sensible

i'm still sick after three days, nothing serious or anything, but it makes me wonder how bad I would actually have gotten it if it had been one of the more serious strains + if I hadn't been vaccinated
