Is voting for the far-right a form of gambling?

I admire people's optimism. I hope it is that and not cpmplacency after Austria and Holland. Droid is definitely right aboit the climate, the great unmentionable in any election campaign. Strangely Le Pen has apparently, quietly, moved away from outright denial, which I thought was fulcral to...

An essay on education, language and class

Few things in life are as depressing as Bernie Sanders 'fans'.

An essay on education, language and class

His book on poetry is singularly free of insight, really quite trite.

Is voting for the far-right a form of gambling?

This might be incoherent or bleeding obvious, it's just some observations tied together to make one big generalisation. I'm always very interested in thoughtful feedback https://infinite-coincidence.com/2017/04/21/is-the-rise-of-the-far-right-a-form-of-gambling/

    Jeremy Corbyn

His outright refusal to countenance an anti-Tory alliance amounts to suicide. I always appreciated his conviction and good sense on platforms in solidatiry with Latin America etc, but as a party leader he is a fucking womble.

HP Lovecraft: Misanthropy and the Anthropocene

Thanks for your comments and sorry for the delay in replying. I hadn't thought about Barlow so will look him up. I know what you mean about bourgeois being the wrong word word to describe UK sitcoms but I was stuck for another term, I meant that they show everyday life in a society constructed...

HP Lovecraft: Misanthropy and the Anthropocene

http://wp.me/p86l64-2Av A rambly thing I wrote which is currently under attack in the Lovecraft facebook group from the kind of HPL fans who prefer that nobody talk about his racism, even though the piece in question isn't about his racism, it just mentions it in passing, for how could one not.HP

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. It occurred to me subsequently that 'essay' was a bit of a grand term for the piece, but still. The point you make about Brand's willingnwss to learn is a good one, K-punk also brougt up that comment that he made in the subsequent interview wih Mehdi Hasan about his...

    Stuart Jeffries Grand Hotel Abyss

Anyone else reading this? I'm hugely enjoying it. His journalism always struck me as a bit twee and mawkish byt he really seems to know his stuff when it comes to the Frankfurt Massive.

Kate Tempest, Sleaford Mods, Modern Toss, Brexit and the 2011 riots

Yello I'm new here and I'm very impressed, it's like the very best days of ILM/ILE. I'd like to post something I recently wrote about music and politics. I know on some forums posting links to blogs is dicey, as it's seen as bad form, but it's not like I'm selling saucepans or anything...
