    James Blake

He reminds me of Shuggie Otis... the voice and the drums... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/avw50zY4fxc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Confession: I haven't read all the posts and this is such a blindingly obvious...

    King of Woolworths

Coil sampled a King Of Woolworths loop (from Montparnasse) on their Wraiths and Strays songs... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/63W2Hq4ivxw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player"...

wot childrens books still haunt your imagination

maybe for a different thread but... can you tell what you'd have liked as a kid? I'm not sure i can... i have some idea of what I was like but I'm not convinced it's particularly accurate... in fact, i think i liked many more things than i can now remember... i've got a suspicion i only remember...

wot childrens books still haunt your imagination

The Green Knowe books.... creepy for no clear reason A Castle of Bone... something very odd about this that I can't remember... it's the 'A' in the title that throws me... 'The' I could have coped with... best freaky cupboard story ever... fuck you Narnia... Sponge, X and Y - a surreal tale of...

Is the internet really good enough?

I think it's a mistake to compare and contrast most blogs to the print media... I don't know about other people but i'm sure i don't put the effort into my writing that paid writers do, only rarely check or draft a post before pressing send... i don't see it as an alternative to the print...

    Glastonbury 2010...

Glastonberries well, i missed the tickets for this year, despite being more or less a local - slept in and then lost out - so i'm gonna miss it this year but I've been maybe 15 times and what differentiates it from other Festivals I've been to is that it's hard work in every way, even if it's...

so which bbc radio station would you like to see go?

...i'll be sad to see 6music go... it's the only radio I listen to (No, I can't be arsed to listen online to fucking Resonance etc )... it reminds me of indie disco circa 1990 (in a good and bad way) and has the kind of bumbling, semi-literate, middle-brow, enthusiasm / love that's missing from...

    The Bernard Parmegiani Thread

after lots of mentions by other people i like (notably Coil) I've started having a dig and it is genuinely unnerving stuff... especially on headphones.... the kind of music that makes the surroundings hum...

    Favourite (official) Kraftwerk Studio Album

have to be The Man Machine... Neon Lights is one of the songs my head sings to itself to keep me calm in times of,er, sturm and drang....and also because this really sluty girl i knew at school would play The Model while showing me her knickers... then maybe Trans Europe Express, just because...

    90s revival: starting prices

would be great, except that my knees have gone ; the true legacy of rave - can't believe anyone worried about the psychological effect of raving... still, i could probably still wave my arms around for Orbital...

    90s revival: starting prices

Good point, well made. I guess I felt a little cheated at illbient.... The Wire made it much more exciting than I could ever hear.... they didn't really try with dubstep though had a little go at Grime before losing interest..... absolutely agree with 1 in 50 in D n B but a slightly better...

    90s revival: starting prices

thought illbient is a term that better serves the hiphopping of Moon Wiring Club etc http://loki23.blogspot.com/2009/03/moon-wiring-club.html

    90s revival: starting prices

mmm... loads of dull thuds in there... Was more or less constantly disappointed by DJ Spooky, who seemed to talk a much better game in theory than practice (cf: a LOT of mid-90s USA ambient/hip hop crossovers)

    90s revival: starting prices

this would be a great album title... maybe for a 90s compilation of bands that began then and are still going now.... Motown Junk could be on there, some of the early Blur songs (that one with the girl on the hippo), Autechre...

    Dark/Atmospheric Music

Burial Hex... has a Lustmording about it, just around the eyes... this stuff seems a lot better than most of the little fellahs that try being scary... and some sections actually do get under your skin in the right time and the right place...

    Acid Westerns

well, actually I did pitch it at one point to a producer... who turned it down. i wasn't totally surprised.

honourable messes are some of my favourite kinds of media... there is definitely a good film to be made out of this theme but it hasn't been made yet.... in fact, this is bugged me to the extent that i imagined it had been made a few years back...

    Acid Westerns

No one mentioned Blueberry aka Renegade, with Vincent Cassell... mushroom madness and psychedelic a-go-go effects throughout... not a fantastic film but certainly the most sustained CGI tripping scenes - goes on for twenty minutes or more - and rather frazzled throughout the rest of it... seems...
