I wouldn't be surprised if he survived this tbh. He'll never resign and he's set the party up as such a personality cult that I'm not sure there's the will nor the backbone to get rid of him.

It's galling to see Sunak writing about competence and seriousness in government when they all knew exactly what Boris was like from the start.

You know when Bez was seen as basically doing nothing for the Mondays except shaking the maracas every now and again... listed as "vibes" in the album credits and so on? I think that that role or something similar would be way beyond Hancock.

He does have terrible vibes.

What's that "do you want another one?" thing?

Did you see the whole of the commons laughing at the speech today about how we have a robust system of ensuring ethics are adhered to in this country? The situation is now one where they know they're lying, we know they're lying, they know we know and they still lie about their lies but so half-heartedly that they don't expect to be believed and no-one does.

One thing I've heard said (I think it was Marina Hyde but I've only read it second or third hand) is that MPs are saying that appointing Pincher despite knowing what kind of man he was shows a complete lack of judgment on the part of BJ. Which is completely true of course - but is surely also completely and equally true of anyone who voted for Johnson to lead the party. The signs were all there, they were legion and they were clear and everyone knew full well that Johnson had no work ethic, paid no attention to detail and, most tellingly of all, completely lacked any kind of morality or integrity. And he has acted entirely as expected, in line with those signs everyone had seen... problems caused by his laziness and lies have dogged his leadership and likely will bring him down eventually.

similar to the trump/GOP situation. politicians support whoever they think can win power for their party. what the person is actually like is a minor detail. all that matters is if they can win.

Who gonna replace them? There is noone competent and whoever took it would know they were a stop-gap.
Steve Barclay, allegedly an evangelical Christian (health).

Michelle Donelan, who apparently thinks holocaust deniers should give talks at Universities because of free speech (Education, which Zahawi held before jumping into Rishi’s role).

Both must have done the arithmetic on this on power x longevity. Time will tell if they have sound judgement there.
