Yeah I edited my post cos that's the main thing. 303 (and 606) were mainly aimed (somewhat unsuccessfully as you say) as backing boxes for bar musicians or for karaoke weren't they? So not really that many major recordings made using them, initially.

The thing about it being clean sort of makes me think it's real. I'd imagine that someone doing a soundtrack to a bollywood film would have better better boards than were probably avaliable in chicago/detroit etc. It sounds crisp but kind of thin/reedy which makes me think it could be real.

I was giving a response to the argument that because it sounds crisp it is of dubious authenticity. I don't know anything about bollywood so sorry I didn't notice the big name. I didn't bother reading too much about it. I was agreeing with you btw.

Some of the other Bollywood funk stuff that's come out on that label and others has sounded kind of rough (not that it matters) either cos it wasn't that well recorded or because it's come from cassette or VHS or something. But then this was actually a record and not a S/T anyway.

looking through that label and thinking about it would probably be more unlikely that they would randomly try and forge a fake acid LP of Indian Raga's, not really the first thing that would come to you're mind..

I like it. It reminds me of E2-E4, in the way that most of the backing "acid" tracks seem to be pretty similar with only minor variations on a theme, or maybe 2 or 3 themes, so it winds sounding more like one long, single movement. also, unlike a lot of the stuff that people point to as contemporary or pre-Chicago "acid", or pre-Detroit "techno", (YMO, various Italo, etc.) this actually does sound pretty similar to the Chicago-Detroit stuff.

The intro to Raga Bhairav did make me think of the Thames Television ident.
