I love the way it says "car stranded on ice" but doesn't mention the people who also look pretty stranded to me.
Several weird dreams last night but really they´re already gone, one had the devil in it and he was flying me places, kept trying to make mutually advantageous bargains with me, but there was more to it than that. I woke with the sensation of having watched loads of peculiar films back to back, or maybe even interspliced.

was going to make a lengthy post in this thread about recurring characters in dreams, and more generally our ability to invent (discover?) complex longterm relationships to people, places, and things all within just a single dream.

but right now i’m pressed with a more urgent question… what does it mean if a character from someone’s dreams enters real life?

I had a dream from early childhood where I was locked in the house and a chimpanzee was following me around the perimeter and making kissie faces through the windows. I was deeply afraid but didn't know exactly why, and it wasn't until years later that my fear was coming from a preconscious understanding of rape, despite not knowing what that was at the time I had the dream.
Oh shit excuse me it was an orangutan not a chimpanzee

I had one of those dreams last night where you discover that you fancy someone that you didn't think you did.

I feel like my subconscious has given me the lay up for a slam dunk into my wank bank.

I had a dream last night where I found an old, red exercise book of mine from school which kept alternating between being an exercise book and a heavy, red paperback and which was filled with strange drawings, bits of prose, diary entries and so on. There was a particular passage which i read and thought was brilliant and couldn't believe I'd written then I woke up and realised I hadn't written it, the book didn't exist and I couldn't even remember what it said.

I wish I'd been able to remember that particular passage and write it down. I didn't recognise it as being from anywhere else, so I guess I kind of did write it but subconsciously or within the dream.

I've had that happen a few times, reading some very vivid piece of writing which I've never seen before.

one of the useful bits of advice that the Golden Dawn and OTO and Crowley, etc., gave was to to immediately jot down your dreams upon awakening, but real life gets in the way and when you have overslept and you've got 10 minutes to get get ready for the chores that pay your rent, well, you know it's not always possible to scribble down your dreams... I've tried keeping a "dream diary" but it's hard if you have to rush about getting ready for 'work"...

The dream diary thing's also supposed to be helpful when it comes to inducing lucid dreams. I remember reading there are certain things to look for to work out whether or not you're dreaming, stuff like flicking light switches and it not changing the light and looking at clocks and the hands just going round or there not being any particular time shown.

The Carlos Castendada books were a bit of an influence on my teenage self - the technique was to look at your hand while dreaming and then realise that "oh, I'm dreaming" and the next thing you know you are in full control -the trouble is that at that point you are operating on the "astral plane" and some behaviour will get you kicked out sharpish, as I have found out to my cost...

I've never had a lucid dream and I'm scared to. I worry that since you go to sleep, dream and wake up seemingly without being in control that if you take control of the dream then you might not know how to get yourself back out of it the way your mind/body instinctively does.

I've found that there is no problem "getting back', it's staying there that can be the problem...

although the Castendada and other books that deal with "lucid dreaming' sometimes mention a "cord" ( seems to be like an umbilical cord ) that keeps you attached to the physical body and which if it gets cut can leave you stranded in the astral, allowing demons or whatever to inhabit your physical body while you are floundering around on that astral plane, but apparently my behaviour on the astral has led to the astral bouncers to eject me rapidly, so that has never been a problem...I've always returned..

I've made a lot of notes of dreams but they coalesce into something different as soon as you write them. Something about having to concretise the pictures.
