As non-resignations go, that was fucking intense.

God knows what happens in the next few days. Just hope the army is worth even an ounce of the esteem we're told the Egyptian people hold for them.

Euphoria, must be amazing. :D

The people on the streets, and the city within a city they have made in Tahrir, are a power in its own right. Tahrir is able to call the country to a halt. It has in a few days its own complex interlocking organisational forms, providing food, water, blankets, providing latrines, clinics and hospitals, security and defence (staff from the M o D take part), groups of constitutional lawyers working on a new constitution, press corps, poets.

According to article 84 of the Egyptian constitution, if the president steps down, the speaker of the People's Assembly shall temporarily assume the presidency. Secondly, a new president shall be chosen within a maximum period of 60 days from the date of the vacancy of the presidential office. It is not clear if this will apply if the Higher Military Council is in charge of the nation's affairs.

Oh no, not the F1 race.

To all of you who read Cyclonopedia, I wonder what Reza Negarestani would say about the recent Middle East events.

Think it's safe to say after watching that that Gadhafi is way past barking. Completely Southend in fact (just a little A13 joke there).

Plenty of warships scrambling around the Med now.
Seen reports last night that extra US Navy ships have been brought in to 'trail pirates' in the Arabian Sea.
NATO air bases in Italy have been put on maximum alert last night.
