Lisa Lisa and Shannon are also on the freestyle electro tip, another summer vibe.

I liked this "feel good" music when it came out, then detoured into more serious music for many years...and then came full circle about 10 years ago to the pure joy of sweet summer jams. I no longer cared if it wasn't intellectually challenging or lacked any important statement. it just sounds great really loud, that's about it.

Was just listening to an Francois K interviewing Hubert Eaves III from D Train the other day and FK was saying how D Train was the music he'd always been waiting for. Totally futuristic but organic at the same time. Loads of 80s music had that going on. Obv it sounds dated now, but if you squint your ears and travel back in your mind it makes total sense. New tech, experimentation, the studio as the instrument, hi-fi, glossy production, dubbed out, digital fx, synths played live, sometimes guitars and other 'live' instruments and then those sweet, sweet vocals. Fkn hole in one

That thing about surface music from the other day. Boogie is both surface and deep (imo!) the surface of the productions but with the human touch all over it and then the vocals
