Dissensus Raw Productions

Let's set up a gofundme so I can get some natty monitors! I'd glady do it in exchange for some Focals

Definitely something to hash out. Do we a: do it just for fun and throw a bunch of tunes together. b: throw them together and hope for the best. Or c: do it pro.

Maybe start with a and then when we've got them all together figure it out from there?
a gofund mea could do the trick even to cover the mastering costs imo, someone here must know someone who does it well and doesn't charge a grand per tune
I doubt anyone would do it for free as it's a dirty job after all isn't it?

for now I would go for a as and option considering the possibility of cross-pollination does sound reasonable to me, will improve the how cohesive it ends up over all, just maybe not stretch it for too long?
((ie. date 1: them dissensus raw productions are being posted so discussion can proceed, week later: follow up but somehow ready, date 2: release ready?)

I realized the above could be spread into any number of dates which would be better to avoid if I can be frank, but on the other hand it is a music discussion forum after all, discussion could have a clear influence on this process (apart from the influence it's already had on making it happen, of course)

I think someone should be "in charge" so there is clarity on the theme, deadlines, min/max track length and running order etc. Not that this person should be making executive decisions with no input, more that they should be the "admin" role of the project. And it probably makes sense to have its own thread.

Bubbling ...

Pattycakes made a sensible point with his A, B and C above ...
See what is in hand first , and see what might go with what ( as need be , in case of cool accidents upon making a 'track list', collabs, b t b's ) and aim towards ' pro '.
As in not painful to endure : )

I like Wektor's basic theme so far it leaves things open to imagination , same time
a forward facing proposition >>>
Agreed too on not letting things drag on.
Sometimes ' in the middle ' is the toughest time !

Mastering should not be too terribly much ...
once a thread is made, can check if anyone can or knows someone who can do that.

W freestyle, there might be a range of soft to over compressed and loud,
so some post production work seems likely to be needed.
Some serendipity of finding something you like in the mix of things seems an upside here.

I feel I should point out that the bassline is reused from a track I made last year. However, my bass has been in storage since we moved house in December, and the house is fully given over to a toddler and assorted toddler stuff, so I don't know when I'll get a chance to use it again.

@Matthew An ambient pad piece then? Throw in a few samples of your favourite cult leaders? If we can get something from you and the absent lord lukan some kind of cosmic alignment will occur and thus far untold wonders will descend upon the earth. All birds will sing in harmony and reveal the lost chord and @Mr. Tea and @mixed_biscuits will finally stop posting in the covid thread.

Its a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
ok @pattycakes_ i will make something too. thank you for asking. i'll keep it short otherwise we'll be in triple album territory

more ideas pls!

anyone else who feels they want to contribute, maybe a spoken word piece would be cool. and then we're gonna need graphics too. a cover and back with the names and titles @catalog? who else is into graphics?

and really, any other ideas are welcome, it would be great to have as many people involved as possible
I'm honoured to be asked and would be happy to do something. But I just want to make it clear that I'm not actually a graphic designer

An example of the only type of music I can manage to make, finished today after a couple of evenings work. Despite subsisting off a diet of techno, jungle and noise, I am completely unable to conjure up any of that when I actually put my fingers on a keyboard.

Music for escaping the Zoom call and looking at the trees outside.

Wind-like resonances always make my knees weak.

This is really lovely. I especially like the little flutes that sound like doves cooing or something. Is this all synthesized or are there any acoustic instruments on it?
