The Incident (1967)

On a New York City subway, two young punks, Artie Connors (Martin Sheen) and Joe Ferrone (Tony Musante), take control of a car filled with passengers. Among other people, the train includes military officer Felix Teflinger (Beau Bridges) and tough-talking Bill Wilks (Ed McMahon), as well as quiet Jewish man Sam Beckerman (Jack Gilford), and his wife, Bertha (Thelma Ritter). As the hostage situation stretches out, things become increasingly tense for everyone confined to the subway car.

Great cast of character actors (and Ed McMahon) with great shots of the Bronx in the late 60's, film has a kitchen sink drama feel that would have been much more of an exploitation film had it been made 5 years later, but as is, has some sort of aspirations to a theatre like respectability (mixed with a little B-movie sleaze)...

Very intense film, like Funny Games set on the New York subway.

Beast of Burden

Ein wunderschön gestalteter Film. Erna Morena sieht darin umwerfend aus, fast so gut wie Ingrid Pitt.

I'm a fan of John Payne in the 3 or so films I've seen him in. I think 99 River Street was the first I saw.

You seen that Eli Wallach one I posted about at the bottom of the previous page, The Lineup? Don Siegel behind the camera.

Yeah I only have a couple of noir boxsets and that happens to be on one of them, it's blurred in my memory with other films though.

this one looks good?

That's normally the one I tell people to watch if they haven't seen a noir before. I tell them that if you get 30 minutes in when it gets going then you should like the second half. I'd watch it in B&W though.
