Did French used to be a skaghead, then? Maybe that's where his drooling comatose delivery originated from?

lol this aint motley crue bro

french got shot in the head thats why he appears to be kinda slow

he aint very gd no more either

/

thing about vado is his style is technically amazing but overtime it just starts to sound the same. still i rate what he's doin more than any other dipset member/affiliate. apart from a-mafia obviously

I thought French was talking about being on the needle in 'Sanctuary'. Didn't know he got shot in the head, that explains a lot lol

Agreed about Vado 100%

Also agreed about that Pusha T tape. I find Pusha quite boring for some reason. Also the Southside + Kanye beat seems like another example of Kanye over-egging the trap style with too much instrumentation.

I sortakinda hate Drake but I'm into this tune. It's laughable how he's trying to make himself out to be a product of a struggle, though.

I stay lovin' the Vado tape.

I think the real rick ross has been on that podcast a few times now. Always an interesting dude and its a pretty odd story.

This is from a while back:

Kevin Gates tape is serious. Too long but loads of great tracks on there. He's a brilliant rapper, great singer, picks very good beats and is (occasionally) funny. This one is a pitched down Jahil beat and he kills it. He kinda reminds me of Freddie Gibbs mixed with Tree mixed with Z-Ro or someone like that.

Young Thug tape is ace, but only if you like caterwauling, off-key singing. Like Future's most bellowing moments turned up to 11. If you do like it, as I do, there's lots to recommend here. Its infectious and fun. I should also have posted ''Condo Music'' with its genius descending hook but check my blog and you'll find it.

All about pride and egos

If you have somehow found a way to separate this song from its content so much so that you can actually enjoy it, I think you'd better say how. (I imagine part of it involves forgetting everything you've ever known about, heard, or seen from Drake.)

I take your point. Thing is, divorcing liking a track from its content is part and parcel of being a left-liberal rap fan for me, unless I want to end up listening to Talib Kweli and Immortal Technique instead of Gucci Mane and Chief Keef. I do (as is my liberal hand-wringing right) worry about this - if I can really like rap music in a formalist sense, ignoring its politics etc. But that sort of perspective allows me to appreciate that Drake tune as a confidently made, catchy rap song. The video makes it harder to like it, cos Drake's in it (but also features a beautifulasfuck woman, which makes something ELSE harder, eh ladz?!)

Nice to see you back Sick Boy.

the main thing i think about that drake tune is that the bass just sounds cheap. don't know what they're using for it but it just sounds terrible. the bit where he jumps out of the car in the snow is amazing though

young thug tape is brilliant. quite like the new currensy too.

Dont really follow new hip-hop much, only hear things my friends play me and Im not that keen on most of the stuff I've heard coming out recently.

Love this one tho, its from last year but dont think its been mentioned here, (couldnt see anything in a search) its free on their bandcamp too.

I feel like Gates is the most purely talented rapper I've come across since hearing Starlito for the first time. With both of them, though, I don't enjoy their music quite as much as I admire it. Its the honesty which marks them out (though Gates isn't as honest as Starlito)... I always appreciate that in rappers. Like Danny Brown, for example. Whereas with a rapper like ASAP Rocky I don't feel like I'm getting anything honest in his lyrics.

Then again, other rappers like Rick Ross who you can tell is just playing a character, I still love some of his music. It comes down, again, to this issue of prioritising technique.
