Name this tune for me...

yyaldrin

in je ogen waait de wind
that last one made me immediately think of gerald donald /dopple effekt (someone already posted a japanese telecom tune)

i guess arp synths are the obvious connecting thread here

Yea, I'm thinking in the same direction although John Carpenter and Vangelis aren't really names I think of when hearing Drexciyan related music. It's much more colder.

mistersloane

heavy heavy monster sound
Almost definitely not this one but always like it regardless, John Carpenter goes NY electro

None of those but all roughly along the right lines - it's a needle in a haystack question I know.
Bruno - It is kind of italo but it's more influenced by John Carpenter to my ears. I don't think there's a huge difference between the two is there? This is kinda both.

oh yes, i meant the gerald donald stuff. it's probably a detroit/chicago thing, they had an italo fixation.

i was about to post that disco mix! to continue with (old) sinister/cinematic music, here is one by cerrone:

and this one by anna (which i believe i've posted before, sorry):

Corpsey

bandz ahoy
I thought of ''Flight Path'' straight away but somebody mentioned Kuedo earlier didn't they?

I vote we waterboard your mate.

Gatekeeper and the last one are more on the right lines - but the one I'm thinking of is still more rocking - more kind of pulse-quickening I'd say.
Anna and Cerrone are veering off course a bit although they are both good tracks.

Waterboarding is a good idea and probably what I would go for in the normal course of things but he's really quite a big bloke...
On further thought it's definitely more sci-fi soundtrack than Italo, it's got those cold synth strings, no vocal (on the mix I've heard) and the beats are pretty straightforward, nothing too glitchy or syncopated... and it's definitely none of the suggestions so far....

Try recording it in your phone and post it up here the next time he plays it. I've got about a million tunes that match that description, haha.

That's the problem I guess... so has everyone. I knew that this would be quite a needle in a haystack type search but I wasn't aware that there were so many recent bands mining this seam.

Knowing the gent in question, waterboarding would be difficult.

How about thinking about why he's keeping it a secret? Normally people only do that with unknown records that are under the radar so they can scoop up stock themselves. I guess it's not that sort of rare if the band is still going. Does interrogating it that way shed any light?

I just want to see the soundclash finale when Rich's mate pulls out his ultimate totally excloose burial tune accompanied by lots of "no other deejay..." type chat only for Rich to PLAY THE SAME RECORD BACK AT HIM...

It's that sort of thing I think, I know he's got two copies - one for me IF I can come up with a suitable trade but that's unlikely.

i can see this being something on borngräber & strüver's label, i've only heard urlaub and the thing they did with conrad schnitzler, but kreuzberg (mm-006) is, if not what you are looking for, at least something along the lines of a motorik kind of thing. the first track is called 'neu!?', appropriately. the following link has audio samples:
