I'm sure it's not someone as big as Kavinsky because a) Why keep it secret? and b) There must be loads of people who would like to bring him over to the UK.

I think part of him keeping it secret is so that no-one else puts on the artist here before he does.

You could do a whole night called 'Not this one' and have a sample that you played over every track going (deep techno voice) 'Not this one' and then at the the climax of the night your friend could come on with The Holy Record and play it and the crowd could go fucking nuts chanting "THIS ONE THIS ONE THIS ONE". It would be rad as hell.

I'm getting a very Nathan Barley esq vibe from this.

Tracks must be played in order of secretiveness. The truly cool spend most of the night at the bar deriding the probability that it could possibly be "this one" and only show up on the dance floor for the half hour or so.

OK - got it! Totally by random listening to some new twelves in Rough Trade, listened to this one thing and thought both tracks on one side were pretty horrible, almost didn't listen to the other side but thought I might as well... it sounded familiar and then it clicked!
Anyway, it's been built up massively so obviously it doesn't live up to the hype and it sounded better on a big system and and so forth (also could be a different version cos he had it on a pre-release white label) but if you wanna listen, here it is (apologies if anyone suggested it and I missed it), I still think it's a killer.

Was my description apt?
