Beast of Burden
Somebody mentioned The Haunting of Julia on here once. I'm still trying very hard to watch it. I have the old VHS on an Amazon wishlist but it never seems to be for sale.

I'm a bit wary of downloading films, I must admit. What are they called...torrents? I'm convinced that they will permanently maim my computer in some way. And don't they take, like, half a day to download anyway?

movies on putlocker are streamable, craner, you don't have to download anything (though it is probably a good idea to have Avast or something on, just in case).

last night i watched a movie, which genuinely scared the crap out of me, but tbf, that probably says more about the state of my mental health, rather than the movie being generally 'scary'. it's called Catfish, and after watching the trailer i felt compelled to watch more so than any other film for quite sometime. supposedly, it's a documentary, which gives it that scary edge (is it, isnt it?) , but it seems too slick. i get the feeling this film is a real divider.

I don't buy the fact that it's a fake. Otherwise, they would have come up with a much scarier ending. Surely!

Eraserhead is the only film I have stopped watching because it was scaring me too much. Still haven't seen past half way, two viewings in.

Allow me to cross-pollinate from the Lynch thread again. I just saw Lost Highway last night, and that freaked me right out. The scene where the vampire guy comes up to Bill Pullman and tells him he's in his house right now, that's freaky. And the jail scenes are creepy as hell. And Robert Loggia as Mr Eddy. The whole thing is a terrifying.

Onibaba gave me moments...
I dont really like masks in general...

Irrespective of the actual scariness of the film, what do you guys think is the scariest mask worn by a character in a movie?

I not keen on The Elephant Man or the masks in Surveillance.

Leatherface and Michael Myers wear scary masks. Hannibal Lecter on the trolley, hissing at the congresswoman, is also creepy.

Eyes Without A Face is surely the epitome of blank mask horror. Low key but disturbing.
Not a horror but Kansas City Confidential has good masks and is a good film despite some enormous plot holes

I think that the Onibaba mask is pretty scary. When she turns round and it's stuck on... that sent a shiver through me.

I found Eraserhead to be quite a funny film. I'm not sure if this is an unusual way of seeing it. It certainly is unsettling but it all seemed to be like a surreal joke about what men fear about marriage to me.
