yup. there's also a IDIB comp called "solid gold". which collects a bunch of 12"s released on the label. some of that stuff is more italian horror disco (bottin) and balearic (tyedye).

the desire cd and last two chromatics cds are pretty good, early glass candy was artsy/no wave/noisy but their last few releases are more lo-fi electro pop. johnny jewel is the main man here: the songwriter/producer/mastermind behind chromatics/glass candy, and he produced desire and farah.

"themes from an imaginary film" by symmetry is the 2cd set johnny jewel composed for the film "drive", but apparently the hollywood film producers thought it was a little too weird and recommisioned the work to experienced hollywood composures (including cliff martinez, i think), who basically then cranked out a more commercial version. jewel then released his original version on italians under the name symmetry, and initially denied (for legal reasons) in interviews that it was actually the original "drive" OST. since it's a film score, there's lots of mood pieces, so not as upbeat as a chromatics/GC album, but pretty good.

Hacker has had a couple of strong releases recently. From the Magical Voyage EP:

Off the single on Zone...

I still listen to the 'clash stuff and follow a lot of the artists. Now it's so dated it doesn't really date. Also it's still relevantish given that Valerie etc style French Touch has just rolled on and on.

Echoes off Rebotini's album from last year. Cool track.
