Jean-Luc Godard has died - bit disrespectful to do it just after the queen like that but it still marks the end of an era, is he the last of the new wave greats to go? Was gonna suggest Agnes Varda but she is dead as well in fact.

Curious about this. Love the look of it.

A wildlife volunteer on an uninhabited island off the British coast descends into a terrifying madness that challenges her grip on reality and pushes her into a living nightmare. Evoking the feeling of discovering a reel of never-before-seen celluloid unspooling in a haunted movie palace, this provocative and masterful vision of horror asserts Mark Jenkin as one of the U.K.’s most exciting and singular filmmakers.

Come to think of it one of my friends was an extra in The Draughtsman's Contract, I only found this out when he stuck a pic of himself in costume on fb.

I think you'd love them - even if it is just working out the formalist conceit that forms the basis for whatever film of his you first watch

I've just realised I'm being completely disingenuous here, as I can't abide Peter Greenaway films...

you might get a taste from this pisstake that was aired on the BBC "Late Show"

How To Make A Peter Greenaway Film ( plus bonus scathing review of Kenneth Branagh's Henry V tacked on )

Bait was a subtle blast. Bit Brexity but the ending was superbly affecting. Enys is the same root as Ynys for island and even though it’s Cornwall the trailer reminds of sections of Anglesey or Ynys Mon staying with grandparents. Places where the tourists avoided, wher the only human contact playing was your own shadow. So many birds. High tide near Parc Cybi or over to Holy Island, liminal “thin” locales where the elements meet. It’s as if the failed arcs of Ben Wheatley and P Strickland are finally facing a real talent

My first thought was "is it Anglesey?"

Llangefni too, so very close fam. My g’rents were regulars at St Pabo’s church. Don’t know if you know it? Farming and fishing clans

I used to feel like a devil worshipper as a kid in there after genuflecting once in front of the vicar’s scathing stare. Slowly fallen out ft use since, must’ve been the papish heretical influence
