as previously said Tazer is one of the producers to look out for, personal fav is "Follow You", when i hear it on a system i am gonna die

Plus Recordings is looking very promising. Radford in being the father of this and maintaining his position at the very summit, even peak (despite new contenders; Morgan, Majesty) has a lot of people wanting to work with him and also has a wicked handle on quality control.

i like what he is doing in keeping Audio Rehab to a small group of producers like Storm, RS4 and Marlon D while opening up plus for guys destined for big things like Oliver Rees (When You Go), and Apollo 84 (Catch The Feeling) to name but two. Audio Rehab brand as a brand is getting stronger every month and the ministry booking in February is only going to add to it.

having said all this though i think House ENT might be able to catch them up the end of the year. Morgan is throwing his party on his birthday (Frequency) in Birmingham and is only second to Rads in terms of headline power, he's introducing a lot of people in wider England to this, has the most hype around his name atm and his tracks aint bad either (When The Night Falls). Arun Verone (aka DJ Pantha) is the scenes best DJ for my money and a bad bad producer (I Do, Hater Shades) in his own right and B3 is my fave producer and best encapsulates this sound IMO. these lot are gonna start releasing their tracks under the (predictable) name House Entertainment Recordings (a root I can see more people going down unlike funky) and the teasers on facebook have me gassed. their free boxing day party will be a blinder.

Dazed warehouse party at slidings was the top party in London this past weekend on RA, and all things considered this being "just house" and all that is definitely no mean feat. but Audiowhores event on the 13th is probably gonna be party of the year. Majesty and Steven Cee (founder/owner of Rhythm Division if you didn't know) have already showed astute curating abilities in terms of the acts they book (quality US underground and the best UK) and their events (Siesta day party as well as Audiowhore have got to be the Coronets biggest money-maker). The label is also headed that way but their release schedule isn't as hectic as AudioRehabs or HouseENT and hopefully that changes in 2014 cause whats come out so far is up there. so thats the big 3 then.

ha shit he just mentioned it, of course!

not singling out this post or anything but i think "perhaps" a lot of people r still doing too much reading/imagining not enough listening so it'd be a good idea to maybe i dunno listen to the tunes that get posted or mentioned in here. i just just checked out that dEEP youtube channel and it's a very nice look indeed. top marks to continuum running it and keeping it up to date.

this thread was made almost exactly this time last year and the feedback is getting ever so slightly better so obviously irl the feedback is almost at fever pitch jk. what drew me to this site is the fact that its for serious music listeners and every scene needs people that take it seriously to progress so safe to all the contributers, regulars and non-revisionists. happy holidays its been emotional.

AudioRehab have hit forty releases

Audiowhore have four

and if HouseENT stick to the plan they'll have eight by mid-january.

so if they even half audiowhores output by the end of the year (which is a sure bet) and Audiowhore pick up the pace (understandable due to parties) that will be what

over a hundred releases of this UK/LDN just house which reached the able to play a whole set of this (like it or not) about a year ago.

not bad eh

:D

Whatever my feelings about this scene/music its good to have somebody so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about it posting on here. I reckon if things go more in the direction of that ''Know My Name'' RMX Dissensus as a whole will warm to it more.

btw is Arun Verone the same DJ Pantha that was making bassline a while back? Presumably there isn't more than one DJ Pantha.

yes he is the same DJ Pantha and that definitely should've been bolded

wasn't familiar with his work then or bassline as a whole but his mixing skills r mak10ish and production wise he can give you any style you want as evidenced by the jump ship i guess

mate i just momentarily forgot the name of a tune is all.

Been listening to plenty of the recommendations here and elsewhere the last few weeks. I was careful not to slag this scene off even at the beginning of the thread when I wasn´t really feeling it so much as now. I´m definitely enjoying it more than I was, partly because I´m checking more stuff but also I think its fair to say the music is becoming more interesting over the last few months (wouldn´t you agree?). I feel like my own tastes are leaning towards this music more and more, but also the music is also coming over to me at the same time. The newer artists on plus also bode well for the next year, so yeah keep up the good work trill.

DJ Pantha's been a badman since day! His bassline was absolutely sick
- and he did some jackin bangers too - . But yeah, his Avrun Verone stuff is full bad. This is my favorite one by him: . Too sick.

Agree re: Benny that the music's getting better and better. Much more grimey/"urban"/tough sounding stuff than stuff getting posted earlier this year? Like a tangible difference between something like Morning Confessions (which is big still) and Tazer? It feels a bit like that the UK side of things is getting stronger than the 'deep/tech house' side of things.

But yeah, I'm definitely coming round to it in a big way now, when I was very unsure about it before. I think with jackin it just like instantly hit my raving erogenous zone lol. Like it's just my perfect ideal of dance music and I just "got it" iiiinstantly. With this deep tech stuff I really had to find what it is I like about it. I'd bought a bunch and rinsed it over summer, and was dropping a little bits in sets, but I was kind of thinking of those tracks as acceptions to the rule and finding it not worth paying that much attention to when there was so much great jackin coming out.

But now jackin's dying down a bit there's less other stuff demanding my attention, I find it easier to see its strengths. Tracks like Locked on You, or Wet Dollars or the Louie Anderson mix of F the Radio are all sick in a totally different way to jackin. Like I hope jackin doesn't totally dry, and am massively interested in what Lorenzo and that lot are doing, it's cool that there's this stuff on a darker, harder tip.

Also, what's the deal with Louie Anderson? His stuff is reaaaally big. Like these big bouncy, quite jackin-y basslines. Kind of overlooked the Audio Rehab release at first but every tune's a banger.

EDIT:
Burkie's making deep tech:
Not surprising!

I'm glad someone mentioned Swamp 81, it was something that occurred to me today in relation to this scene. I'm assuming there's very little interaction between the two camps (Blackdown's shelltoes vs Clarks Shoes?) but I can sort of make sense of where this deep tech stuff is coming from- am I right in saying the DJ's on this thread would've originally sourced their tunes from already established European/ US/ anywhere but nuum genres before they started to make it more locally relevant? So where the fuck did Loefah come up with the stuff he plays. Electroclash circa ten years ago? I'm not hypothesising or nothing, it's just that I'm genuinely ignorant of the history here as I must have missed the issue of Mixmag/Muzik/Ministry/M8 Magazine which had a DJ Hell cover mount CD way back when.

I'm not keen on naming subgenres at the drop of a hat (Dubstep as a word paid off in the long time but the need to classify it purely on the basis of two little heard CD releases circa 2003 seemed a bit too desperate at the time) but is anyone in agreement about what Swamp81 type stuff is called? The percussion is way off traditional House & Techno.

I don't think it's changing that much man. Although with X5 and Arun Verone getting involved this year it has pushed a certain take on it a little more. But just as an example here's an SEF track from a year-ish ago:

https://soundcloud.com/switchedonrecords/m-o-e

Didn't hear people bangin' on about this one like they have been Wet Dollars, and this was in that Swarvo vid where he was dancing in the car park, posted way earlier in the thread.

People are changing, more than the tunes are. That's how I see it anyway.

Yeah, similar vibe/samples to the Tazer track, though I feel the later a lot more. But yeah you're of course right, it is mostly just me coming around to the sound, though I do still feel that when I was dipping into Mark Radford sets a while back, they weren't doing much for me, and now they are. Maybe I need to go back to them.

One thing I'll say which is super confusing about the scene is that, like, with jackin, yeah it's a dumb name that has already been taken 30 years before and makes researching the scene needlessly difficult, but as least it was the taken name of a fairly extinct branch of house. With deep tech it's like, deep house and tech house still exists. In fact, they're still everywhere, and they'd been ruining nights out for me all through 2011 and 2012. And that's not even being funny, I just mean I'd go to a party where I like one or two of the DJs playing, or a mate was playing or something and inevitably the residents would come on and play just fucking boring tech house. Not intellectual preconceptions, but visceral "this does not make me want to dance, I do not enjoy this music" vibes at party after party after party. It's one of the things that made jackin such a massive breath of air for me - vocals! rave! bass!

So it's clear to me that this stuff - UK, working class, young, black and white produced - as opposed to the other tech stuff I was hearing at friday night hipster events in East London - Euro, student, beige.
it much better, darker, weirder. Even though as with all genres there is filler, and I find some of the tracks in mixes indistinguishable from the shit I hate. It leads to baffling thoughts like 'it's deep tech but it's not just deep house or tech house'.

There's zero semantic space between the stuff I do like, and the stuff I really don't. Here's hoping someone comes up with a better name!

--------

Know this one's from a few months ago, but this is heavy:
Got that swagger in the bassline that makes you wanna drive around at night blasting this from a car

- It's a London Thing - says it all I suppose!

a name would be the kiss of death
i think one of the strengths of this sound is its hiding in plain sight

ok, maybe a stupid question...

anyone know the one that uses the vocal from Nightmares on Wax 'Aftermath'

'there's something going round inside my head... I think its something I feel'

old dub siren type fx n a sick half sine / half FM donk bassline?

odds on its been linked in this thread, I feel like I've heard it in a few mixes, but soundcloud only works for me about 40% of the time so I might of missed it.

I know trilliam knows the tune I'm on about :D

Really? I know a lot of people have a gut reaction against naming things or 'pigeonholing' them, but is it really the case that deep tech is such a dizzying array of influences, with such sonic diversity that to name it something would be to reduce it? If anything the scene is marked by remarkable sonic cohesion, I'd in fact argue a bit too much so, with sets and releases often sounding very samey to my ears...

Either way, what ever it gets called, I don't want it to be imposed on it by journalists from the outside, but it'd be good to see a name come from within the scene as and if it continues draw away from mainstream Euro/US tech house...

(Although to be fair, there hasn't been a new UK genre name which isn't just nicking some other genre name since bassline... which is hardly the most inspiring name, and there hasn't been a good genre name since grime, so maybe we're stuck with 'that good deep tech stuff', 'that deep tech wot Mark Radford plays', 'that house music which is big in East London warehouses'...)

Don't hear many, if any, House sets with a MC on them so Truce & Frosts' new Casa Amante CD is well worth a listen. Mic man Frost doesn't overwhelm the tracks he is chatting on and there are some memorable lyrics such as "on it like a Nazi"!

Thanks for the feedback Trilliam. Much appreciated.

Hoping you can help with a question about House Ent Records: where can I pick up HER 001 and 002? Don't seem to be available on Juno Download or anywhere else I have looked.
