in semi-related news geeneus has cut funk butcher from rinsefm, no idea why his show was one of the most popular on the network. him and t. williams are big losses. tbh geeneus seems like abit of a cunt. wicked producer/dj/radio boss but ye.

reason i post this is cause its looking like adam cotier might get a permanent slot or at least one hopes he will.

here is a wicked interview with him by sam supplier back in 2012

talks about how someone like mark radford or geeneus would say the scene has been there for 6 years and he would say 6 months. this was around d time things started bubbling up for real.

this interview with majesty from last year is another one which provides rele good insight into the innerworkings of the scene

btw DATWUN hurry up n post that inerview!!

here is cotiers show from 10th january on soundcloud

and here is the one from the 17th on rinsefms site
http://podcast.dgen.net/rinsefm/podcast/AdamCotier170114.mp3

one thing ill say as a sort of disclaimer is cotier isnt like ggb in the sense he plays a lot of the us stuff as well so i guess your mileage may vary. 4 hours will test ur stamina but he is one of the top djs in the scene so if u like house and the uk stuff then its a go, if not i'd listen to both interviews n move onto this

carnao beats on 1xtra earlier in the week

disclaimer: "just tech house innit. try and enjoy this without drugs" (courtesy of elijah)

Yeah that Carnao mix is big, been enjoying the nightshift vol 4 as well. Need to check out these ggb sets.
Definitely coming to town on the first, trying to get guesties for ministry. My mate's up for going after he listened to the Carnao Frequency set, he's just not up for paying £20

There's a tune in that Truce / Supa D, gets wheeled about 39mins, hard tom & analog percussion, moody synths & 'do me to the rhythm' vocals. Pretty sure its a tune that a few funky DJs played... I know I have it somewhere if so, but, cannot for the life of me remember what its called... anyone?

Erotic Illusions!! Thanks Rudewhy, that was doing my head in, I started goin thru older tunes, got distracted by Conan Liquid, replayed Nick Holders vocal mix of Aaron Carls 'Oasis' about half a dozen times & packed it in... so close

I was going to comment on those GGB sets posted that there is a little soca snare creeping in around the edges of a few tunes, ghosts of funky :D

When DJ Shafty mixes out of 'Erotic Illusions' into 'Give It Up 2 Me' by MA1 - one of my favourite moments on one of my favourite mixtapes.

Been meaning to post a few tunes by the Truce / GGB / DJ Random / Scottie D / MC Frost camp for a bit but not got round to it yet. In the past few weeks they have revealed a strong selection of new original productions:

This next one is massive. Love the aff vocal sample. The wibbly synth stabs that punctuate the track are too much.

Dunno the name of the one below but from listening to the GGB / Random / Frost recordings from Freek FM fairly sure it is a GGB / Truce collab. Proper stomper.

The futuristic-sounding (even now) rave bass that starts Truce's Kele le Roc - My Love remix and re-enters later on in the track kills it:

Not quite so new as the tunes above the following Truce beat is still hot. Features an (I believe) original vocal from roots artist Kenny Knots.

I know Low Steppa's productions don't gel well with this scene but his DJing seems to have more in common with it than you would think.

If like me you listen to the stuff on this thread and wonder 'when's this tune going to drop' or 'this evolves from the nuum how?'- then that set might make more sense to you.
