Yeah, just head about that yesterday. Shook me up really bad, you feel some strange sense of responsibility cause it's like /our/ scene :( Haven't heard any reactions from any of the big names but I can't imagine what everyone who's worked with him must be feeling.

Really?

Seriously Dom, think about what you've just said here

By 'our' I mean deep tech fans, I mean anyone who's deeply into the music. I certainly don't mean like 'dissensus' scene' lol. It would be equally as fucked up if it had happened with some breaks dj or someone from the donk scene, but that wouldn't feel so close because those scenes don't mean anything to me and I don't know anyone in those scenes. As whytea said, he had him on facebook, and while I didn't and never had any contact with him, I'm tight with producers who worked with him. Nobody's actually responsible apart from him but I mean there's a weird, not particularly logical sense of complicity which comes from the fact that he was moving in the same circles.

dj panic attack
As the name suggests, the fancy footwork deployed by legions of generally Nike Air Max 1 clad dancers throughout the capital and beyond is about a kind of subtly-unsubtle whole body manipulation. The best shufflers make the dance look effortlessly casual. Like they are literally shuffling about. And that casual effortlessness on the floor is matched by one of the most important factors: the clothes they do it in.

ugh

wonder who actually wrote that, clearly more clued up than yr average RA contributor/deep-tech house hater, nice descriptions of the sound. at the risk of getting caught up in the bollocks, the shuffle shoe is surely more likely huaraches or 95s?

bandz ahoy
I know who wrote that article. Perhaps they don't want to be identified so I won't. I know they were unhappy about having to do it, or at least with the Nike tie-in.

Of course, most writing in online publications is tied to advertising in one way or another. Its just not usually so obvious as this.

Haven't really posted in a while as I've been busy with label stuff/life but if any of youz guyz were interested in what we've been up to:

We had a little spot on Rinse FM in the run up to bringing Tom Shorterz and the 02:31 guys out to Tokyo:

02:31 party went fully and overly OFF and we got all the sets recorded here :3
Me and Frankie Dollar's sets are the deep techy ones, Andy Bell played a smashing set on a more straight tech-house tip, Shorterz and Pete Graham went in with jackin/house n bass:

Possibly the most interesting one though was Clock Hazard's set:
Japanese house and techno crew from Kyoto/Osaka making some absolutely bonkerz space-house:

The 02:31 guys liked them so much they're booking them for a party at the Rainbow Warehouse later in the year if anyone wants to check them out, and we're working with some of the artists to put out some JP deep tech on House Not House.

Next EP from HNH is the debute release from Birmingham's Mr P on a bassline/deep tech fusion vibe:

Massively chunky release this one, couldn't believe nobody else had signed him!

Finally we've done a little primer on the relationship between deep tech and grime music:

Sure there's nothing there that you lot don't know! But might be interesting anyway :)

any difference in the japanese n english versions

good set of links still

Thanks G!
Yeah, they're actually pretty much totally different articles lol. My HNH co-partner Frankie wrote the Japanese version first, and I did the English /very/ loosely based on the Japanese. The assumed knowledge of Japanese readers and English readers is totaly different so a bunch of the stuff he writes about, some more general background on the UKs class and race politics would be totally obvious in English. I'm a lot more political in my comments about the new-wave grime scene as well lol...

It doesn't mention T Williams! But SEF who runs Switched On records was one of the producers in Black Ops, can pull out the facebook message!
