Do you not have a smartphone cos of privacy / surveillance / spying issues or is it more just cos that's how things have worked out? What about you version? I was thinking of going back to brick, just to limit phone time when I'm out and about

I'm still using my first phone. It still works and I barely use it, so I've never bothered upgrading. I don't like 'smart' devices anyway. I don't want a phone or a fridge or a TV that 'listens' to me and tracks everything I do.

partly paranoia. partly couldnt really have a contract cos of the way my money was coming in. partly cos i didnt want to be hooked up to internet when i leave the house. its disgusting being always inside it.

Yeah, I keep thinking it would be a good idea to not have the net on the go, but then think 'how could I possibly live without x, y, z. But lockdown has made me think of it again.

Just got an upgrade offer tho so I'll probably umm and ahh then get some new thing.

Yeah, this is another big one for me. I spend enough time online at home. I don't wanna be plugged in at all times.

The only downside I've found is it's bit harder to get hold of people without Facebook etc on your phone and finding places you're unfamiliar with can be a pain without maps.

its nice to be able to close the door and leave it inside. theres no reason for me to have it outdoors. serves no purpose but distraction.

yeah the maps thing is a biggie
Get over it, those tiny phone maps are a nuisance, running around after reception and battery charge, squinting in the sunlight and trying to navigate your fat fingertips while you miss out on the most beautiful sight ever cos you can't excape your electronic leash
dump them - urban orienteering is easy and fun
