Supa D's done a boiler room last month

always used to hate the old (generally white) gits telling the mc to shut up on hardcore/jungle sets (you fool, mcs are fucking great) whatever but man mcs and deep/soulful house do not go together. with funky there is at least that shuffle but with this stuff the mc sounds like aerobics instructor. I'd pull the mic.

With the ruffer electro-y deep tech stuff the mc works as well. but this stuff just needs the grooves to breathe.

the best of this music sounds so much better at +4-5 speed. Hugo Massien end of it. German minimal/electro house w rnb vocals. Not too fast like +6-8, but that sweet spot between 132-135 bpm. Injects so much more life into it.

Like Perch MC, he's great, works perfectly with the ruff tunes he is playing.

tbf ruffhouse is still my ideal mutation in the london house continuum. I think the Americans generally do the full bodied garage better. We're great when we bring chopped up rnb/ragga samples/dutty basslines. Which was kinda my stumbling block with funky, and some of this stuff, the stuff that is not technoid enough. But then again i am a bit of an anomaly being a bit of a techno head, or maybe not so much given that Theo Nasa has been going that way.

dj s - ra exchange, starts off with his raving in the early days, his emergence in garage, napa etc. and then he proceeds to call out audio rehab, jamie jones and a host of others haha. think of it as a 'companion piece' to radford's ra exchange...

interesting to hear him talking about catching a wave with the garage scene, as listening back to the house of silk mixes, 1st birthday is january 2014, and arguably he's catching the wave again, a musical movement gathering pace into it's full stride.

not sure I'll find time to listen, can you summarize his beef with audio rehab/radford? I was never here nor there on mark but gained some respect for him from his interview.

'turned their back on the scene', misled by the established house lot, mainstream bookings at ministry.
