While we're on the subject, here's an absolute classic Chris Lorenzo produced tune that got battered by both jackin djs and deep tech djs alike, had a lifespan of 2-3 years in in all kinds of contexts and eventually had a proper video and got into the mainstream charts.

are there even raves in Cumbria? If there then you should be into very hard techno like Claude Young at Voodoo Liverpool, just like Craner should be into trance as a logical step from the handbag continuum.

Nah, but I'm sure there must have been some illegal ones over the years but I've never been to one.

My older sister used to go to Blackpool in the very early 90s hardcore era (love shack I think it was called?) in her raving years and I used to listen to her tapes. Wish I still had them, that was my introduction to rave music by proxy. She went to raves in Scotland too, I think.

When I was at school loads of kids were into bass generator (Newcastle) Rotterdam gabba and happy hardcore sort of stuff- not me though. Cumbria itself is a complete musical black hole.

I lived for this sort of stuff when I was a kid, the later bass generator stuff put me off rave for a long time though. This Love shack Set is incredible though fucking hell

Kid Unknown - Nightmare

originally a white label from Manchester

i guessed it was this but i didn't listen to the set. did you skip on mixcloud billy? they are pretty awful with that. i was listening to James Mason sweet power of your embrace in the shower just now. Ethereal. If most jazz funk was like this the detroit purists might have a point.

yeah im well aware it's not really new. But it's the sound that I perhaps unfairly want to become more dominant, where it actually sounds more London to me, (re)interfacing with that bleep and bass lineage, but with all the utopian trappings stripped out. Oris Jay is a good shout.

talking about new/old in a genre as entrenched and solidified as house (in whichever variety) seems redundant to me, like some exercise in overfetishisation of innovation.
i agree. it's more about my memory loss than anything.

new mix just for you, subterranean house
