what, you mean the preponderance of moody El-B and Wookie numbers in the noms list? I sort of expected that.

Send me a list of 50 songs please luka. If Craner is doing it (and his list is ace despite its brevity) then its only right you should.

I don't know if it's a case of not getting garage, more about how from 2000 onwards the 2-step vocal stuff was getting moved to the side by proto Grime/Dubstep. A large portion of the sing a long stuff by that stage was overly commercial compared to it's late '90's predecessors.

In short, it's easy to come up with lots of Steve Gurley tunes from 1999 or Todd from the mid 90's- but those kind of producers weren just over their peak in the noughties. Wiley & Digital Mystikz on the other hand were just reaching it.

I was going to say the same thing, but I was also going to add that if anybody could produce a garage-packed Top 50 for the Noughties, it could only be Owen Griffiths. I tried and failed.

first, bump. I kinda wanna see this poll come off so I'm gonna post a weekly reminder so it don't just go by the wayside. also, benny, maybe there should a cut-off date for voting? not set in stone, just something to encourage timeliness.

also, lemme say to all lurkers, you should vote. more votes is better. also, someone should up hit up paul meme, marcus, etc. all them type of guys, the old Dissensus heads who ain't around no more but know this stuff inside + out, I mean those type of cats that should definitely be voting.

Yeah I was wondering whether people had forgotten or were still pondering (probably the former I'll bet!).

I've received about 7 ballots so far (they are marked with asterisks in the first post) and have counted all of them so I'm ready, get your votes in! Even if you can only manage a top 20, STILL DO IT

shes one of the most awful singers ofthe last 10 years. up (or down) there with joss stone for me. always sounds like shes trying to punch above her weight. she should stop trying to belt it out all the time.

also another point of order - once the voting's done I think we should have it like ILM, like, 5 songs a day so as to allow for discussion.

also, somebody who can, get woebot (possibly the greatest internet music list maker of all time) to make a list

(this goes for everyone) don't worry about knowing everything, just vote. it's not like we're passing an ironclad resolution on the Western Canon or some bullshit. we're just picking a list that reflects the taste of people that frequent a music board. it's a discussion starter I mean, not a discussion ender.
