first: even tho I already voted I must add this b/c unfathomably no one has. a failure we should all be ashamed of.

the 8 minute version w/Titch + DDE + a shitload of other people is even better but this is one of my favorite Channel U era music videos

also couple other thing:
JME - 96 Bars of Revenge // best thing he ever done?
Morbid Syn - Chinese Riddim (aka Wiley - Chinese Riddim but not actually made by Wiley I guess) which is like a sino-Functions On The Low

second: look, I know man are busy w/their own music and/or non-music jobs and/or silly things like parenting and academic studies or whatever, but look, I'm calling you out - everyone listed on the OP, and also all the djs, producers, journos and other insider types around here. seriously who is more qualified to vote on this than people who spent the last decade actually playing or covering (or making, even) the actual music? come on it don't take that long really. also I was looking at ILM the other day and there's some poll for the 500 best songs of 70s. surely we can manage a poll 1/10 that size that focus on dissensus's area of specialist expertise? I'm saying, just, get it done.

everyone should post their top 10s when the results are in. i would do mine, but i cant find mine anymore.

shangooli is amazing - i went mostly for bigger tracks than personal favourites otherwise i would have put more scratchy in mine. the beat for trim n scratch is maybe my fave of his...

I've counted all the votes so far, another 5 people or so and we'll have enough to make a decent poll, probably a top 20 at least.

Corpsey, where's your list at bro? This was your idea in the first place!

Okay finished. That was really hard. And if I actually went through all my vinyl instead of doing it off youtube it'd be totally different but probably got most of the big ones in.

Thanks ifp. You posted the list on my profile page rather than pm, but no worries I have copied it before deleting from my profile. Great list!

Anyone else?

no no i have done one, and I'm resisting the temptation to change it after seeing everyone elses...you'll just have to trust me.

Can you bully luka into doing one please?

I just saw this now, I don't know why... I'm in.

cool, i did wonder if you would be interested.

Still waiting for Corpsey, Tentative Andy, Luka, David M, Mistersloane and some others. Fingers out boys!

I would like Blackdown to contribute too but I don't think he likes me :(

I spent a couple evenings flicking through records to get this done but it's been WAY harder than I thought it'd be. Hopefully I can get it done next week if I can find some more time to go through them and I don't end up aimlessly mixing as I usually do :p

Here's a couple of tunes that are not in the first page and will definitely/possibly/maybe be on my list:

Shystie - Pull It (Ill Blu Remix)
Sami Sanchez - Dirty Trumpet / What
Swift Jay - Toppa
Scotty D - Sound
Footsteps & A.L - Tell Me / Footsteps - Worker
Geeneus & Zinc + Nikki Benoit - Emotions
Hard House Banton - Peek'n'Duck / Vegas Trip / Dancing
Dubplate Wonder - 1 Drop / Anthem Hype
Bassboy & Marcus Nasty - Drip

Sticky - Golly Gosh
Alias - Gladiator
Wookie - Storm (Wiley Remix)
Nocturnal/Ghetto - Back In a Big Way
Dizzee & Durrty Doogz - Stretch
East Connection - We're Ready
Low Deep - Cheeky Violin

Steve Gurley - Walk On By V.I.P.
Steve Gurley & Al Brown - Killin Me
Al Brown - Buggin Me
Chris Mac - Gal A Call Me Phone
Vincent J Alvis - Body Killin
Once Waz Nice - Messin (Wideboys Remix)
Dub Syndicate - I Need Your Love (MJ Cole & Agent X Remixes)

Quest - Hard Food
Loefah - Twisup
Skream - Glamma

Gotta say its been a lot of fun just thinking about the list though :)

Thanks David, and good calls on the extra nominations.

THIS POLL IS STILL GOING TO HAPPEN just waiting on a few more lists from people who said they would do it (you know who you are!). Maybe i should set a deadline.

set a deadline

benny I think you should just a deadline by the end of this week and then whatever you have fuck it just publish the results in a new thread. then if anyone complains and wants to send in a new ballot we can always post a revised final poll at a later date. posting the results will get discussion going and encourage laggards to do ballots.

also the Wiley remix of Storm is enjoyable tho not even in my top 50 of Wiley tunes I think, it's kind of ruined by Jammer's voice, I never understood why he wanted to rap he's such an amazing producer and such a not-amazing (to be nice) MC
