Ive long suspected it, but it seems that beneath your warped, decrepit, borderline sociopathic exterior, there is... ...nothing. Malign accretions orbiting a void. A gyre of the self.

it's seems perfectly natural to "give a shit" about the death of someone who had an impact on your life, as jenks explained. if david bowie or ingrid pitt opened one's eyes to new worlds at a young age, it's ok to value them for that and miss them when they die.

Well, there you go. I'm a sociopath for not having the correct response when David Bowie and Ingrid Pitt died.

Heh, no. Youre just a heartless gobdaw lacking even the basic sensitivity to understand that sometimes its best to keep your opinions to yourself.

Blackstar's lyrically atrocious though. Its like he heard Scott Walker talking about how kids say "BISH" for 'bitch' (WHICH NEVER HAS HAPPENED EVER), and did a whole album of fake AAVE. So much weird lyrics trying to sound like hip dialog, probably heard To Pimp A Butterfly and lost the plot, but bless him.

Tbf to jenx at least he is old enough to have seen and heard bowie in real time. Im surprised you consider some of bowies '80s (or 70s?) albums to be objectively good though. Particularly as I strongly doubt you've ever listened to a bowie album. I know I haven't. (except actually I've heard low... And station to station)

Jenks, this is why it got like Lady Di. Who are you to say I shouldn't criticise what I consider to be an absurd, extravagant, weird response to the death of somebody who made a bunch of objectively good albums in the space of one decade?

To me, your post is two batches of sickly gloop. That might offend you (I can't see why), you will disagree (fine), but I feel no reason to not say it. I mean, I was upset when Ingrid Pitt died, but who gives a shit? Why should anyone?

Mainly, I can't get with all this 'preciousness' for a rock and roll star, a supposed transgressive and radical. Your post wast too precious for my taste.

Just In case craner tries to delete this when he is sober again

There's only Paul McCartney left to promote this sort of behaviour at least. Once he's gone it'll be all over for the musicians. We will cry over footballers and television stars instead

The reason the kendrick thing seems so tragically plausible is, I suppose, that both artists are quintessentially middlebrow. They both overreach. They're both gauche. And they're both darlings of the liberal media

Bowie's voice, as inflexible and inexpressive as it was, is still much easier on the ear than kendricks tho

Rubberdinghy was the right person to start the thread cos he is famed here for his ferocious defence of the middlebrow. He has a real affinity for it and refreshingly he's completely open and unashamed about it.

It's a counterpart to Mr teas compulsion to always leap to the defence of middle England, I consider them spiritual twins

And craner also expressing scepticism long before bowie kicks bucket so....

Wow, so you're saying that people who were critical of Bowie before he died are still critical of him now?

You're really spoiling us with these penetrating insights.

as i imagine you inhaling all music media 24 hours a day, i am expecting that you already know he was listening to TPAB while recording blackstar (which might explain the over prominent drums and bass in the mix, or is that my bad mp3 rip, i dunno).

as for the bisch thing, i remember seeing SW being interviewed and thinking it was the kind of thing mistersloane might say (might as well get into the slagging everyone off spirit of this post...). HOWEVER, maybe he too was listening to kendrick (or maybe kendrick was listening to scott, idk which came out first that year).

Hot sauce all in our Top Ramen, ya bish
Park the car then we start rhyming, ya bish
The only thing we had to free our mind
Then freeze that verse when we see dollar signs
You looking like an easy come up, ya bish
A silver spoon I know you come from, ya bish
And that's a lifestyle that we never knew
Go at a reverend for the revenue
