I think the distance was the most intriguing aspect for me. The characters are all completely self-absorbed and cut off from one another. The daughter observes death through her phone rather than actually looking at it. The father sends graphic messages to his mistress, but can barely look at her in person. The nephew keeps running away and we see him beaten up from a distance. A construction accident's shown via security camera.
It isn't anything new for Haneke, but the use of the internet's a logical development of stuff like the tapes in Cache.
