I'm doing a little bit of pissing about on the decks right now, getting some records ready for our gig in Porto on the weekend and - yes! - practising some mixing. This activity is something that one of the cats has a real problem with. I can't work out if he sees the turntables as an enemy stealing my focus away from him or what it is, but he often starts moaning the second I start playing, and then gets increasingly angry the longer I stay there. Today he didn't bother with any of that though, he just noticed that I had a load of records lined up to play around with, some on the right arm of the chair behind where I was standing and another pile on the other arm. Cat just walked up and deliberately knocked the whole pile off one arm on to the floor. That got my attention, I turned round to see what the noise was and, just as I was staring right at him, then he slowly and performatively walked around the chair (not just across it which would have been easier) and then knocked the other pile of records to the floor. And then just in case I hadn't got the hint he bit a lump out of a kind of flyer insert that fell out of one of them. And then satisfied that the message had been delivered he fucked off.

that's all part of why cats are great. I love dogs, but they will always be your best friend and most appreciative fan, always looking to please you. cats can be affectionate but also have attitude.

Ive got this on, pretty lush and woozy.

Hands, you might like this nts mix of Richard h kirk

I really like the first 30 mins of so, sort of timeless sonic noodling, bit of music concrete feel where he's got sound effects and field recordings in the mix.

Only thing missing is the very necessary ethereal female vocal. I guess he was too much of a scruffbag to have a bird or was principled against it.

Later bits don't grab me so much, but I listened to the whole thing and liked it

Put this on my phone by accident and can't seem to turn it off. Luckily I like it... reminds of Craig Leon.

Quite the anarchic and insolent mix here from the late Carl Crack of Atari Teenage Riot infamy (I see @thirdform has mentioned his work a few times on the boards).

Everything is too pitched up, shit tape quality, impatient blending…sounds like a lonely German junglist sat with decks and mixer in his bed overly fucking about just to kill his own boredom. Highly enjoyable stuff.

Huddersfield in the area. Tribute to a famous MC for the Earth Rocker Sound System, in it's late 80s incarnation, after the departure of Papa Burkey.

Really good, lots of dub but also street soul and a bit of electro.
