And you just know for a fact that if we currently had a Labour government, they'd be calling for the PM's head on a spike if the deaths had reached 3,600, never mind 36,000.

You sure they're real people and not bots and paid posters?

I doubt they're literally bots unless chatbot AI is far more sophisticated than I'm aware of (which is possible, I guess). As to them being employees of some Cummings-operated, Petersburg-style basement troll farm, I suppose I wouldn't rule it out. But I think millions of people do really think like this. Same with Trump in America. It's not most people or even a majority, but it is a large minority, and they're so fanatical that literally any negative press covfefe (like 100,000 dead people) can just be brushed off as "fake news".

This Cummings thing is the biggest pisstake yet. Three days ago Hancock etc was saying Ferguson should be arrested and now they are saying what Cummings did was absolutely right... they think the whole country is totally fucking stupid and basically they're right.

Stung By Twitter, Trump Signs Executive Order To Weaken Social Media Companies

President Trump signed an executive order Thursday aimed at limiting the broad legal protections enjoyed by social media companies, two days after he tore into Twitter for fact-checking two of his tweets.

"We're here today to defend free speech from one of the gravest dangers it has faced in American history, frankly," Trump said from the Oval Office. "A small handful of powerful social media monopolies control the vast portion of all private and public communications in the United States."

The president said the tech companies have "unchecked power to censor, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter" a large sphere of human interaction. "They have points of view," he said.

Again there is a glimmer of truth in there somewhere... regardless of the fact that the reason he did it was cos he was pissed off they pointed out he was lying.
What fucking world are we living in with Trump and Johnson? How did this happen? How did we get here?

Yeah I was thinking that Twitter following up with another reprimand so quickly is really gonna piss him off... I hope he has a(nother?) stroke due to apoplexy. Did you see that video where his arm is twitching like Dr Strangelove? I'm not a fan of diagnosing people from telly or whatever but Trump looks seriously unwell... when I see or hear people saying "Another four years" my first thought is that he might not live that long.

Anyone (Leo?) wanna unpack these released Flynn transcripts for me? I see Trumpletons saying that they prove Obamagate and Democrats saying that they prove Flynn definitely lied to the FBI and colluded with Russia in undermining the election. What's the truth?

TL;DR: decent chance of it.

hard to tell what will happen between now and November with him, Biden, the economy, COVID, etc. too many variables, but I think trump's got a better than average shot of winning again. he knows how to fight and distract, and has a pretty huge war chest of contributions to buy ads. if the dems had a better candidate, I'd have more confidence in trump's defeat but don't know if Biden will energize people to get out and vote, even if they dislike some or lots of what trump stands for.
COVID is the wildcard, could very well have a second wave that lays bare the administration's initial mistakes and bad decision to rush the reopening of business.

Surely the GOP are going to rig it anyway? They're trying to prevent postal voting, they're closing polling stations, they're peddling conspiracy theories about the opposition and they've stacked the courts with partisan judges. I don't see how the Democrats can win.

that new White House press secretary gave a statement at a briefing supporting trump's criticism of mail-in votes. turns out she's voted by mail in four of the last five elections. it's all a crock of shit, plenty of rural areas filled with MAGA supporters who have long relied on voting by mail.

How can he win an unrigged election? I can't imagine he's won one lefty over to him and I know for a fact he's driven away loads of Repubs. If the election happens and is not fixed (two big ifs) he has to lose.
