So is Inside Baseball like a column or tv show or something that gives its name to that? Anyway, I get the sense now. Cheers. I guess that ought to be all of us on this thread anyhow.
But back on topic, the thing is, is he can fire every single person who is involved in his campaign in any way at all... but he can't fire the problem.

from wiki: The phrase was originally used as a sports metaphor in political contexts, but has expanded to discussions of other topics as well.[1] Language commentator William Safire wrote that the term refers to details about a subject that require such a specific knowledge about what is being discussed that the nuances are not understood or appreciated by outsiders.[3]

agreed. but I do still love every that depicts trump's (or anyone's) shittalking about Jared Kushner. a former real estate guy who is uniquely unqualified for every major initiation that he's inserted himself into. his arrogance of thinking he can dismiss experts.

it usually has a further connotation that understanding the inside baseball is extraneous to understanding the general thrust of the issue

I'm a big fan of the term, providing the target audience understands the idiom

the inside baseball thing is very american. Leo got mad at me when i said american music fans love to talk about the mmusic as a business. how this or that artist positions themsevels in the marketplace. this very sophisticated understanding of the way the industry works. they know about the producers and the songwriters. they know how the machine works and delight in talking about it.

That's true isn't it? Was it Turkey or something where there were guys from UK who were planespotters and they were arrested for spying and they said in their defence that they were just interested in looking at planes and their numbers and stuff but the Turkish authorities were all "Come off it, no-one alive would do that for a hobby, is that really the best you could come up with?".

In fact I've googled that and it happened in Greece... UAE... also in Kenya. The "spies" were British every time of course.

Have you seen theses clips from the Students For Trump rally? Firstly it's surprising to me that there even is such a thing, at least instinctively, I mean, when you think about it of course there are loads of right-wing students, it's not at all the preserve of the left even if they have traditionally been more visible or something I guess. Anyway, the frightening bit is when he talks about names for the virus and finally says "Kung-flu" and the students break out in this boorish and hateful cheering. Urggh. It's revolting.
