lol@watered down version of the jungle brothers. i know you want to be outrageous, but can you try and see things with an ounce of nuance please?

Rule of thumb; any time a hiphop act consciously invokes 'jazz' they are about to perpetrate an atrocity

Lol@this rockist nonsense. define 'consciously'.

jazmatazz you can have. the rest, i kinda like datskat lol.

its rockist cos theres that rockist sniffiness about jazz, its usually 'lol jazz', unless its free jazz, which is okay of course cos its got more attitude, its louder, harder, more confrontational, political and violent, etc etc.

Oh no, Free Jazz rap is often incredibly terrible too. Freestyle Fellowship "Hot" is like, really good but when you realize nobody has any melodic sense to be doing what they're doing you become very *rubs temples vigorously*

bandz ahoy
My philistine taste means that I like jazz rap cos they take the best 5 second bit of a jazz song and loop it with some banging ass drums.

I don't know what I was expecting from the Tribe Called Quest album, and it just rolled by in the car the first couple of times.

It turns out to be actually pretty amazing, really engaging, contains some future classics, and I love Busta on there.

I really don't think they are clogging up space that would be better occupied by younger acts. I also love stuff by younger artists, like that Black beatles track. Its all good!

I'm starting to think there are some really miserable ppl on this forum. cheer up, its nearly xmas ;)
