Lil Durk feat Kid Ink - Good Good (2016)

I like the Bop-py feel of this.

This tape is good, Banging Mustard-style beats and he's a decent rapper. Perfect for a sunny day.

This one's kind of old but

Lil Durk - Waffle House (2016)

This one's even older but I just remembered how great it is the other day

Young Scooter feat Gucci Mane - Work (2013)

Produced by Zaytoven, as is the whole tape.

That second one isn't on the tape I don't think.

I like this tape a lot more than I anticipated I would. It's infectiously upbeat.

EDIT: Now on Spotify

Wrote a review of this for The Wire but it turned out to be superfluous so I might as well post it here (with all due embarrassment):

Chance the Rapper – Coloring Book
Self-Released
“This is for the kids of the king of all kings” raps Chicago’s Kanye-anointed saviour on his follow up to 2013’s acclaimed Acid Rap. For Chance, one suspects, toddler-ness is close to Godliness, for this mixtape is as much a paean to lost innocence (witness the Peter Pan imagery of ‘Same Drugs’) as it is to finding the Almighty. In the notoriously violent Chicago, where “summer friends don’t stay around”, such innocence is under constant threat, and Coloring Book aims, in the rapturous choral voice of Gospel, to “clean up the streets so my daughter can have somewhere to play.” Pointedly independent, Chance is “anti-label”, because the labels have told him they own his friends. Well, here Chance gets to play with those friends, rapping and singing alongside (amongst others) the tantrum-prone Kanye, the baby-faced Justin Bieber and the baby-voiced Young Thug (as well as some actual kids in the form of Chicago’s Children’s Choir). Even God is more buddy to Chance than deity (“he think my new shit jam/I think we mutual fans”). Music, this mixtape argues, is a playpen for all ages. Hallelujah! It had this atheistic critic gurgling like a swaddled infant in the presence of CBEEBIES.

Halfway into this tape and it's worth checking out.

Fat Joe and Remy Ma's 'All the Way Up' (feat. Zelig Montana) is getting a big push with a remix featuring Jay-Z. Meek and Fab did a version on which Meek takes more shots at Drake. It's pretty catchy, even if it strikes me as a less-good version of French's 'Shot Call'er:

i like the chance album more musically than lyrically. i like that he can say stuff like 'happy thoughts!' and it not be hollow. but musically, i think its amazing, better than the kendrick album. its futuristic in a way. sort of proves that you can be futuristic without having to be hard/street. and it does the soul/jazz rap stuff in a more progressive/interesting way than to pimp....

From what I can tell, he's the most mainstream artist to incorporate footwork influences (back on Acid Rap), so he gets futurist points for that.

I think Chance is totally indebted to Kendrick (and Kanye, of course). People hate Kanye but he was one of the big names in rap who opened rap up to all this other music, and to being artsy AND street (for Chance this means featuring Young Thug and Future).

New Roc Marciano album is coming soon, and new YG.

2 Chainz being 2 Chainz.

i liked this

Ferg sounds like Badness when he sings.

I always like it when hip hop producers play around with the 808 bass. I can think of a couple of other examples.

I'd appreciate it if people could post some other tracks with subversive 808 bass on them.
