i bought a half-dozen principe singles last year, love the raw sound.

this is one of my favs from this lisbon thing. less hardcore club sounds, reminds me of stuff like liquid liquid, tussle.

Strangely enough(?) Baboon I have that first one and some of the others. Dunno much about 'em though except they are from Portugal and I heard someone playing them (in the UK) and thought they were good. Plus that inky artwork is cool.

Are you talking about the producer from Angola living in Lisboa named Batida or the batida drink or the batida guitar stroking technique or is batida a style or music?

Thanks for all the recommendations. Yyaldrin, that's a great tune. Rich, didn't realise you were a fan of this stuff, will talk to you about it.

@trza style of music, though I have no idea if the name is widely accepted

I like this Angolan tarraxinha too, which I think is a big influence on the music out of Lisbon, though I can't find too much that sounds like the below on yt:

One of Batida's collaborators was thrown in jail for attending a book club meeting in Angola earlier this year.

The daughter of the president of Angola is one of the youngest female billionaires in the world.

absolutely love that one yyaldrin.

saw this set when i was in lisbon in the summer and was really impressed by the relentless energy. no breathing space. they're both principe affiliates.

there's something really great about 10 year old youtube video's with compressed audio, same goes with those old footwork tracks
