I can see it being pretty strong already cos it's got both S and T which are power letters. Plus O of course, so there could be a nice circle round it all

the importance of the comma.

Surrender to Sodomy, Oliver v. Surrender to "Sodomy Oliver"

"surrender to sodomy" is a pretty great phrase, definitely. the imperative alliteration of it.

hard to think of a phrase that better evokes this

no, because surrender to sodomy is accent neutral. when you add the Oliver in, it is imperative that you adopt a camp British accent.

Oliver is a most unamerican name. The way you guys say it is like ahliveh.

When in reality its oliv-urr with the v-ER being extremely accented. V from the back of your throat. guttural. So it's not surrender to sodomy ahliveh, which I agree would be shit.

Context is key, dawg.

Anyway Oliver is an archetype, not necessarily a person. It's just a shame that the archetype itself is based on Craner. Not much we can do about that, unless @nilprenia @suspendedreason or @constant escape also are called Oliver.

But Nil is a kid so we won't be hearing about their escapades with the brunette who serves coffee at the office and the exalted hands of the welsh independence movement seductively clasp her coffee mugs with tender grace as befits a dandy of his calibre.

yeah, almost too late now, I feel like we've already shared so much good stuff here that starting anew wouldn't catch on. maybe, though.

yeah I took it to be essentially a British toff version of Karens

those kinds of archetypes are of limited use anyway

leaving aside whether or not they're slurs themselves, they make the focus the pejorative rather than the behavior being called out

that's exactly why we need to get "surrender to sodomy" away from its association with both Olivers and @craner specifically

look at the confusion it causes

surrender to sodomy is a beautiful sentiment - surrender yourself to the collective organal energy, let down yr barriers, be vulnerable

the key point is surrender, not sodomy, but sodomy is an ideal metaphorical way of expressing it

all the loaded meaning, associations, taboos, creates one of those dislocations D+G are always on about

D+G said:
Music has a thirst for destruction, every kind of destruction, extinction, breakage, dislocation

I mean that's the logical conclusion of yr whole music as erogenous punishment line ain't it

surrender to The Mover or whoever pounding you relentlessly, let your body be jacked, surrender to the groove

sublimation of the individual to the collective eternal groove, become a disco cyborg in the post-all social constructs Donna Haraway sense

as @john eden might say, an integral part of the communist project
