Nice and ongoing terror attacks in W Europe

Apparently the attacker, after being released from jail following his earlier terror conviction, was supposed to been put on some kind of course in how not to be a terrorist, but this was judged to be too expensive by none other than Boris Johnson.

Another great reason why we can't let terrorism-loving Jeremy Corbyn be PM!

Corbyn is chatting total shit about terrorism & intervention again though. It's an ugly spectacle.

Neither candidate in this election deserves to win IMO.

"It's all the West's fault so we must never intervene ever again". The usual.

If he becomes PM he'll have a veto on the security council. Jesus!

Then again, I've just seen a story where Boris said "fuck the families" of the 7/7 victims. Choices, choices!

Labour don't deserve to win if Corbyn doesn't spend the following week quoting this at every possible opportunity.

He doesn't do personal attack though, so that won't happen. I don't if this is principled, stupid or both.

Must be wild believing there's an all powerful god that really wants (no: demands) that you cut people's heads off.

Another one in Avignon.

Just in case we'd got too comfortable with Brexit, the US election, ongoing Covid nightmare, economic/ecological collapse, etc. etc. etc.

Who was it around here who posted the birthrate chart of W Europe, showing the entire continent has negative population growth (pre-immigration)?

We should talk more about the "1 billion Americans" Matt Yglesias argument around here—corny as Yglesias can be, he's one of the few who spots the obvious problem ahead: 1) that as much of a dumpster fire as the West is, liberalism is still a better alternative to rule by more autocratic or religious orders, 2) population is hugely deterministic of geopolitical influence, especially when 3) global mimesis via information technology is reducing the West's scientific edge, stymied only by brain drain into liberal zones.

It's true they're a little slower growing than you'd think, but there's such a reserve of peasants to industrialize that they might as well be growing

Japan OTOH is in negative growth rate, which is a different picture
