Are there any good books about memphis rap

Feel like it would be a good subject for a scurrilous trawl through minor figures with two average tapes

Huh, like those trying to analyze capitalist culture can’t approach it from any other angle but that? A miserablist attractor?

Maybe that any cultural criticism of capitalism tends to gravitate around this ominous sense that reality can’t be anything other than capitalism. That capitalist realism actually describes the impression made on the cultural critic, rather than the reality for everyone regardless of whether they engage in cultural criticism.

Really this might just be confusing things further though.

Well I think it’s a good formal basis for finally getting past capitalist realism, and positively engaging with capitalism as a agnostic setting conducive to self-interest.

edit: “it” being that tweet.

Well policy isn’t really agnostic, so not to be taken too literally I suppose.

Invest in insight, save orders of magnitude more of cognitive labor than if you went about engaging with things as a proper specialist. Surf across intensities and detect their patterns from a higher order perspective, rather than diving into an intensity and spending your life there.

Analogous to capitalism itself, using resources to expedite the generation of resources. Exactly what biochemistry is about on the object level, the endogenous procurement of molecules qua resources that would otherwise naturally occur with exponentially sparser frequency.

In this sense, a refusal to read stands to be a profound asset (seeing as most serious books are dives into intensities rather than surfs across them) so long as progress is being made in terms of insight-building. Otherwise it’s just idleness I suppose, a liability.
