Attempting to foreground the nested image beyond the nesting image?

I'm afraid I dont follow

Suspension of disbelief, yah. If your less aware of the room its easier to associate yourself in the massive represented world on screen.

But theres something to be said for the comfort of staring into the otherworldly light at the far side of the womb. Something cozy about the experience, which defies the feeling of wide open space.

Yeah you got my point, I was just trying to phrase it in the terms I thought you were laying down. That is, the nested image, the screen, sort of "overthrowing" the nesting image, the wall.

Thats a good way to put it, I was twisting my self around thinking you were using nesting in some obtuse Freudian sense lol.

But I understand the feeling. I used to tack a comforter over my living room window when playing games. Feels theres not enough space for the stimulation, so you blur your horizons. This is why Im never bothered by the light when I use my computer outside. Anything on the walls in the pic above would betray the illusion that the walls arent right there.
re: daytime outdoor computer use- the feeling is reversed at night. something deeply unsettling in being out in what you know to be wide open space with the lone light focused soley on your face.

You ever try listening to a lecture or other audio discourse while playing a game? Something about the spatial navigation, Fallout 3 in my case, seems to compliment the information and provide some kind of a map for the concepts to stick to.

Even in physical space. Sometimes I tend to visually wander through familiar areas as I'm pressing into some text, or considering some theory. Totally fascinates me how these associations are made. A reminder of how little of the puzzle I can see.

And then, when the same area is associated to several concepts, the concepts layer/compound in interesting ways. As I think of Plato's dialogue of Socrates and Protagoras, I wander through my grandmother's yard. Not sure why.

But when I think of Kerouac's The Subterraneans, I am transported to Wabash street in downtown Chicago - because I was walking on that sidewalk reading that book. A bit more of an evident connection, in that case.

In both instances theres shame for the body. A desire to dematerialize yourself.
I feel what you mean. When I'm watching a thoughtfully constructed film, I tend to wish I were physically situated in some kind of pitch black vacuum, hooked directly to the audio, so as to minimize the noise (noise in both the casual sense and the technical sense, I think).

This sounds way more productive than blaring metal to amp the brutality.

I cant read with outside stimulation, so I don't associate books with locations, as its usually all done in the same place. In fact, at home Im capable of reading only in a select couple spots, anywhere else and the difference is too conspicuous. I disappear in my regular reading spots.

Yeah the lecture/game combo can mitigate unproductive guilt, while letting you blow off some mindless steam. A very nice balance, I've found.

Just find some lectures about a topic you'd like a better understanding of. As long as you half follow it, you'll walk away with an improved familiarity.

Interesting about reading spots and outside stimulation. Any interest/attempts to counter this, or is it not a problem?

Yah I can only listen to a lecture/podcast when working or driving. The low level physical stimulation goes hand in hand with the high level mental stimulation.

Did you live in Chicago? How did you like it?

I just finished the last two years of college there. I can't really say I have much of an opinion one way or the other. I didn't do much exploring, which, seeing as I usually didn't carry my flip phone, probably would not have been wise in Chicago.

“For although like you I could be a spokesman denying rumours from below that predefer to be stifled till the return of the repressed prodigal, I could also be a streetsweeper cleaning up the unmanuring dung dropped from above, which will have to be collected up and sorted out and recycled maybe into serviceable goods, as in psychoanalysis, a genie from a plastic bottle. When the magic cycle of genuine shit will have been replaced by the chemicycle of pure electronic thought ever expanding, more and more unbiodegradable, the heart of the earth will stop, shrivel to a curled up foetus to be ejected lifeless and wither to a moon without even the attracting planet to encircle except the distant sungod dead because unseen unfelt by anyone.”
