I'd be semi-interested, although I tend not to have any free time at the moment on accounts of the baby.

The main issue that I've had whenever I've tried PD is that it's very low-level but there doesn't seem to be any real culture of re-use around it, so every time you want an ADSR envelope or a resonant filter or whatever I end up building it from scratch. Also as someone who does "regular" programming for a living, I end up thinking how much easier it'd be to do the low-level stuff in a text-based programming language.

I have never used PD but Max is quite easy when it comes to abstracting bits of code, but I do indeed feel like text-based programming would be easier sometimes. Especially with the example a couple pages ago which is a wavetable synth built around sorting algorithms, implementation of which is highly masochistic to do in Max on its own, perhaps bubble sort being an exception.

Sadly Max is still a bit rigid in some aspects, might do a big switch to SuperCollider once I'm out uni

The abstraction mechanism in PD isn't too bad, but I've never found anything like a standard library or a package repository for the sort of stuff that most people are probably going to need at some point, so you spend a lot of time debugging very low-level things that aren't really musically interesting anyway. I dunno, maybe this is a deliberate philosophical decision to force people to think about the atomic components of what they're doing, but for my part I'm more interested in playing with things that I can plug together at a higher level of granularity and actually get something going, ie the Eurorack-ish level.

Perhaps for a bit of fun during lockdown 3 vector could lead a zoom workshop for us on how we can become Mark fell and rian treanor
I've done a workshop in using this funny sequencer a while ago (as a part of promoting some mag release I wrote for a bit earlier), didn't have a proper mic back then so had to do it at uni studios.
if you promise to drink/talk on zoom I'm up for it and generally not be quiet- my internet is being installed on thursday. max is a bit tough to get straight away though, just as a warning.

ok shall we do today afternoon?
I'll try to scrap up a short syllabus over brekkie but would be helpful if I get to know what you chaps are curious about/would like to see how to do apart from the general
how the fuck does that bloody max thing work
I'll try my best with the limited knowledge that I have

Oh wow, this is happening, nice one vector.

Today? What time? Later the better for me, was gonna go for a walk. Evening would be better probably, like 7 or even 8?

I have literally no idea on questions, I'm probably the worst person to ask. I just want to make something really simple.

Do I need to download something? I've got mac only, is that OK?

Evening's alright, I'll do some fiddling around the house chores and so on.
7 is calm I think.

If you wanna join the navy you can get the trial here:
If you wanna be a pyrate then look around for a magnet yourself or pm me if you're warez illiterate and I'll figure something out.

We'll do simple shit, I'll try to skip over the more boring parts which you'll get on the way anyways (as in the technicalities of how the environment works) and jump straight to looping breakbeat.

dunno yet if i'll be around for that but i hope it can happen.
If timeframe is the problem I think we can just move it around a bit? Unless catalog enjoys a highly intimate setting and wants to be there by himself.

My advice is if you want to do something, don't wait around for flakes to clear their already empty schedule, just do it as soon as you're ready

Whoever is there for it is there for it and everyone else can fuck off anyway who needs them never liked them anyway

Otherwise flakes take control of your program when in reality you have to be dominant and in control, all powerful.
