Really enjoyed this, although it was tempered by the slight feeling of self-disappointment I get when reading about any apparently very important historical figure I've never heard of before.

It's so great that you have a thread in your name. Not a thread about something related to you, or things you would like, but simply your name. Speaks to your stature.

I’m not really sure what spirit it was started in, but I cunningly appropriated it for my own ends.

I posted the George Mosse one on Facebook as well where it got a few likes and a bit of commentary. Hope the bastards actually read it rather than just signalling their approval.
Definitely a similarity with him and Reich - I presume he'd have read The Mass Psychology of Fascism.

Thanks Danny, I appreciate it!

I haven't read anything by Mosse in which he directly talks about Reich, but yes I'd also be amazed if he hadn't read him. Renzo De Felice writes about Reich directly in Interpretations of Fascism when discussing what he called 'social science' interpretations. He doesn't criticise his ideas so much as the claims made for them.

But, yes, there are probably some interesting overlaps between the two, although I don't think anybody has explored it.

Just wanted to add that I can never help but giggle over someone named "Reich" writing about fascism.

What I'd love is if Craner did a blog where he provided liner notes to his incomparably great Spotify playlists.

I'm too dumb to read about politics.

Continuing on with the craner book club- Im reading La bas. Its very good. I assume he likes it because he relates to husymans mouthpeice Dutral- the former aestheticist disavowing the form and the scene for a solitary journey into the annals of history. Whats funny though is that dutral himself relates a little to famous satanist child murder gilles de rais....
