sorry man italo disco is wank there are like 20 good tracks in 2016 i was the biggest disciple of trying to find the good italo to play amongst the electro boogie and it's basically like hypnotic tango, dirty talk and cybernetic love.

thats it.

usually i like the influences of genres i get into but for house/techno i can't quite get this one. but it's ok because we transitioned to acid in England without Italo.

True enough. But of course UK Acid wouldn't have happened with Chicago. Don't forget Problemes D'Amour for the tracks. But you're right. Even Daniele Baldelli had to mix genres together to get coherent sets. And not downplaying Disco either. Just wish there was more Mojjo, Wizard, or Ken Collier sets online, there's already enough from WBMX.

Damn straight, Dlaurent. Ken Collier is mythical status with the lack of recordings. Wizard there's a bit more of. Tiny bits of mojo.

Style is the main thing it's so mythical.

Even with Electrifying Mojo it's stuff like the B52s, Yes and Rick James. Stuff that fits the mold that ain't even disco.

well this is it isn't it, this is why i like sampling so much. hardcore wouldn't have happened without a lot of god awful italian rinky dinky house. but sped up and pitched up on the sampler this all luvved up balearic hippy tosh actually became frenzied and urgent. similarly with a lot of 90s rap and smoother jazz.

i don't get people who wholesail dismiss crap music. there is potential there.

of course the problem with the detroit purists is they venerate boring stuff because derrick may was into it at some boring high school party, well yeah, can you imagine the idm purists of the future looking back in 30 years time for todays producers, with pipe and a pouch of tobacco and saying, with an earnest connoisseur's face, those were the days for special d - come with me or milk inc - walk on water or lasgo - something

no of course not. weirdly enough outside of Holland noone rated Italo in the UK until the soho people got on it in 03.

Funny things are, influences...

This should be an impetus for bliss to give Autechre a try again. detroit/intelligent wankno purists dissing italo!

"Do you guys like italo disco? New beat?
if i had to answer with a word, nah to both
i mean there are bits i hear and like sometimes, but there's a slight element of shitness to both genres
plus they are often liked (as an entire genre) by awful tasteless people who can't seem to discriminate the good tracks from the shit ones
i mean i'm pretty uninformed tbh, i grew up with american electro so to me italo and newbeat sound a bit wrong somehow and i ignored them for years"

Add Skanna to that and my list is the same.

I like the crap Italo tracks (not Italo House or whatever) but did get into them later. The things is for me, by no means a detroit purist, I just like the sound, not being a Londoner it just kind of fits somehow. Speaking of crap Italo and Holland, Laserdance have always been a favourite. I got into that a bit later than anything else I listen to through people from London though. Shit like Laserdance, Koto, Doctors Cat and the obvious ones.

Italo was huge in Holland and all the bunker lot are total fiends. They seem to gravitate to the most grating cheezoid shit too. Sometimes it feels like some kind of I don't take myself too seriously statement. There's definitely more than 20 bangers though.
