Feels like we've earned the daffodils this year. Sometimes I feel I haven't quite suffered enough by the time I see them.

I visited Stratford yesterday and saw blackbirds, chaffinches, goldfinches, blue tits, robins.

Went for an early-ish morning walk yesterday, like 9:30am, to these woods very near my house, that I go to quite regularly and saw a load of deer running very fast. Which I've never seen there before! Very mind boggling to me that there are deer there.

Saw a live, very large frog the other night. Dusk really, set off on walk whilst it was light, and it was dark when we got back.

Wouldn't have seen it apart from we had a dog that sniffed it out.

Very big. Always uncanny to me how similar frogs look to people when they move.

squirrel on the fire escape yesterday. cheeky little fucker climbs up and suns himself on the outside window ledge, in full knowledge that the cats are on the other side of the glass indoors and unable to get him. he'll ever take a crap on the ledge sometimes, gets up and there are a few little pellets on it.

Squirrels are the best.

Yeah I love squirrels as well. So smart. Little monkeys. My mates dad used to be very garden proud and hated the squirrels cos they ate all the young bulbs. So he used to catch them and drown them in a barrel of water he kept at the bottom of the garden.

It was this really beautiful garden, we used to go have a few beers and spliff in there, lounge about.

But there was always this malevolent drowning barrel in your sight.

Also, the dad purchased decorative porcelain squirrels to hang off the latticework.

The dark heart of gardening.
