Darned cockwombles.
I sampled a deep fried (battered) mars bar at the weekend

Couldn't manage a whole one, but I thought this was pretty decent when I had it. The balance of savoury and sweet - better than a normal Mars Bar, which has nothing to offset the cloying sweetness.

Deep fried pizza is just beyond my comprehension tho.

That chicken in a can is probably still the worst thing on a thread. There's something so, so wrong about it.

What was wrong with people in the two or three decades after the war? Lots of people - including my parents - blame rationing but it can't just be that surely. There's this drive towards the lurid and the grotesque that can't just be explained by the fact that people didn't have fresh eggs for a few years in the 40s.

I think it can only really be explained by lsd.

I mentioned this before I think, but one time I went to visit my friend in Paris and he had recently met this long lost great aunt so we went to visit her. We spent a fantastic afternoon getting utterly plastered with this 80 year old woman and flipping through this utterly hilarious book of ludicrous 70s French party food that she dug out for our delectation. She found it as ridiculous as we did... although presumably at one point it had made some sort of sense to her as she'd bought it. I vaguely remember Mum having something similar too... there must have been something in the water.

Your photo's cocked up (hur hur hur), although I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

With chicken feet, I feel the question of whether they're gross or not is secondary to whether they're even worthwhile as a food source. I mean just how much meat is there on a chicken's foot? Or is it all about the crispy skin rather than what's underneath it?
