just cos its come at the right time! it's live, it's like a royal baby! when he had the others, no one gave a shite about him. but now he's been at deaths door, and hes got a baby. he's unstoppable. he could drop his pants at the next press conference, do a massive shit over his powerpoint screen showing the not flat curve, and people would still say 'ah'

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_Manslaughter_and_Corporate_Homicide_Act_2007

An indictable offence is committed if the way in which an organisation's activities are managed or organised:
Causes a person's death; and
Amounts to a gross breach of a relevant duty of care owed by the organisation to the deceased;
— and the way in which its activities are managed or organised by its senior management is a substantial element in the breach.

This seems pretty much to cover Johnson's and the UK government's handling of COVID-19 in all respects and on a massive scale.

The act doesn't apply to the government as a whole but does apply to some departments.

There is a whopping great escape hatch here though:

Any duty of care owed by a public authority in respect of a decision as to matters of public policy (including in particular the allocation of public resources or the weighing of competing public interests) is not a “relevant duty of care”.

The state looks after itself.

So he might be hung out to dry if that suits the state's agenda. But that is incredibly unlikely when there are so many other fall guys about. And a lengthy inquiry with no serious consequences to those at the top is what we do best.

exactly - look at hillsborough. the truth will no doubt out at some point, but long after it can do any realdamage to the servants of the state. this country is so fucking bent, but then all states are

It was a vent more than a serious proposal. Yes, Johnson belongs in jail. But obviously it is never going to happen.

Have you seen that he's now claiming that apparently he was offered a ventilator but he declined it so that it could be given to someone whose need was greater? Which sounds completely out of character and absolutely unlike anything I've ever heard about the guy but whatever, i'm sure it will Pearson flicking the bean like crazy. EDIT - I think that was a joke about the sort of thing he would claim actually.
Also he said they were thinking about what to do should he die, something he likened to a "Death of Stalin scenario" which I thought was an interesting choice of comparison.

U-turned for the second time in recent weeks. This time thanks largely (I guess) to the campaign from Marcus Rashford(!) the government has taken the radical left-wing step of paying for starving children to eat.
