Let's Talk About Ceps
Having a Valentines meal tonight, bought as a kit from a local caterer's. I have literally been looking forwards to it all week. Highpoints being few and far between these days.
Are you going to cook it and then consume the whole lot by yourself and suggest to Katie that she nip out and get herself KFC?

Roast lamb

Being rugby tackled trying to tray up some spuds, did a dry rub of cumin coriander and paprika rather than garlic r’mary overnight. Tray of roast veggies and the dog gets the bone tomorrow
Lamb also for tonight, although I'm doing a tagine. The bulk of the sauce is the stock I made from the bones after we had lamb chops last week.

She's got the veggie option - as far as I can tell she's just got a big bit of cheese.
Was really good actually - we buggered up the plating a bit but this (burata) came with a barley porridge which was really marmitey and umani. Good contrast with the creamy cheese.

Also had:

Chewy beets in rose vinegar with whipped goats cheese.
Oysters with xo sauce
My main was lamb which was delicious, it'd been slow cooked so falling apart w/[pickles and minted potatoes
Salad with anchovy paste
Cheesecake (industrial size portions)
Chocolates.

Was delicious, I'm still full. Good god I love a good meal.

Felt like quite a Russian or east European dinner tonight, dark colours, no veg. Neither of us could be arsed cooking, although the sausages were really nice

Last nights was similar fare really, birds eye chicken quarter pounder and crinkle cut chips. worse probably cos all frozen. The bread just crumbled away so it was a sort of half sandwich.
