Not posted in this one for a while but today went out to meat a friend in town and he suggested we go to this ridiculous meat restaurant. We ate a lot of meat. All of this stuff was pretty decently priced but they had all this fancy aged steaks and also wagyu beef that was really expensive. Seeing as they made the normally priced steaks really fucking good, maybe this would be the place to try the expensive stuff one day - I think for a birthday or something it might be nice to come back and try that.

I extemporized a roast chicken recipe yesterday. Totally invented seasoning paste comprised of this weird but very tasty Tasmanian sea salt that's blended with "pepperberry and kunzea" (nope, me neither) that my brother gave us, black peppercorns crushed very coarsely in a mortar, smoked paprika, dried oregano, garlic granules, lemon and lime juice and some mild olive oil to make it into a paste.

Honestly one of the best roast chickens I've ever eaten. Almost up there with a jerk chicken made according to @DannyL's excellent personal recipe.

So who else is currently coating a gammon joint in honey, mustard and brown sugar?

And if not, why not?

Tonight for Nochebuena - a shit ton of white prawns, king prawns, a fish stew, anchovies, jamón, cheese - all absolutely top-notch quality - and, best of all, a scandously good waygu steak.

I have to say, I don't miss day to day English food at all but stuff like that gets me salivating. Haven't had a proper English Xmas roast dinner for about 10 years.

@Benny B Am I starting redeem myself vis-a-vis ham since hacking up the leg of Serrano I bought last year to make soup and put on pizza?
Ok, just promise to never ever do it again.

I brought my my parents back some top notch super expensive 5 jotas jamón once and mam wrapped it round a chicken breast and put it in the oven like an absolute philistine

There's loads of expensive wine round at my partner's parents house as well but I'm working 10 hour early shifts tomorrow and boxing day so I haven't been able to take full advantage.

Today was a low carb, sugar free dinner for me and my family. It was quite tasty. I organized it because my husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I , which makes him feel better. He also needs diet and exercise. I think that a diabetic diet style family dinner was a good idea to support him
