The Moon

Big fuck off moon last few nights

After everyone had finally settled down yday, sat on the attic window frame and got exceedingly stoned just watching the moon loom up arcing E/SE. None of the weekend hullabaloo noises and carnage around. Had a chat about the state of the world and its take on Oumuamua. Typical Saturday

“Air is the medium through which images pass, but it cannot retain them”

This is very Pynchony.

“Just as white contains all the other colours, the moon contains all the other planets”.

Aye it’s lunar focused, even though I wasn’t expecting that when clicking the vid initially

Solid entomologies and symbolic realms tied up pretty sweetly

Didn’t think it was on YT. Fun overall and crossover from the monolith thread. Had to time/capture the older crusty crew with their monuments worship. Monuments continue to draw devotees in

So many of these places are lunar calendars on a mid-winter solstice axis, peak-night/death metaphors except every mid-summer pre-Covid the circles of robed drum congas descended and congregated. I imagine the moon goddess tutting, flicking a roll up butt down from the skies, exasperated at the lack of awareness

nice new moon it was last night

Shaʽban (Arabic: شَعْبَان‎, Šaʿbān) is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the month of "separation", so called because the pagan Arabs used to disperse in search of water.

The fifteenth night of this month is known as the "Night of Records" (Laylat al-Bara'at).[1] However, observance of this day is disputed.[2]

Sha'ban is the last lunar month before Ramadan, and so Muslims determine in it when the first day of Ramadan fasting will be.[3]

In the post-Tanzimat Ottoman Empire context, the word was, in French, the main language of diplomacy and a common language among educated and among non-Muslim subjects,[4][5] spelled as Cha'ban.[6] The current Turkish spelling today is Şaban.

The Moon is such a big thing in our home ( Apt. ) !
Thankfully my lady keeps me up on exactly which one it is, when it is full.
I can only note the great names it has been given over time - as laid out early in the thread.
We are close to the East River so when we can we go to watch it rise over Brooklyn, Greenpoint. Sometimes sooo big.
Feels like a friend.

Thank you for posting / making this thread !

Wonderful ! thanks for posting - there is real beauty there.
I look for it every day.
Last evening it was an elegant ellipse in the Western sky,
tonight i will roll one before i watch it rise.
RS and i had extended messages back and forth after he had that Paul Bowles quote on one of the ASYNC tracks about the moon - ' how many times will you see the full moon ...' then goes on to name a number that just seems ... too low !
Since then we keep in touch re: Moon over Manhattan
