I was bullied by the middle classes and fiercely protected by the working classes and particularly those of West Indian background that's why I am the person Barty describes

I think for me it bothers me in that I'm somewhat lonelier than I would wish to be.nid like to have more friends able to converse on what I consider arrogantly or otherwise to be my level.

I have a friend like this. The arrogance I mean. He finds it highly frustrating and annoying that nobody has anything interesting to say - mind you, he's a stonemason and works on a building site all day. He reports that quite a few of them are addicted to crack.

In fact I would say gayness is his natural mode. Disarmingly so. It takes a while to get used to but I really really like it. I'm much more guarded typically.

I really love him actually. He's been great for me. He's not a cold hearted egotist narcissist at all. Or if he is its in a very endearing way.

It doesn't do to generalise too much but my experience has been that the middle class are very eager to identify difference and eliminate it while the working class are much more comfortable with the heterogenous at all ends of the spectrum. Middle class. The clue is in the name.

Barty was the first person since 2003 and the blogs to come along and go Oi I see what you're doing! That's great! I want to do that too! It makes a huge difference. Craner did that too in 2003 which is why it makes me sad that he won't play with me anymore.

If you look at the stuff he was doing in the early 00s you'll see I was a very good influence on Craner. And I was a good influence on mark fisher too but they all disavowed me in favour of growing up. Maybe other people do have to grow up eventually and only I get to/have to stay like this forever.

The biggest public conceit of mine is feigning amorality. People genuinely think I’m evil, when I’m actually a very sweet boy.

Again, that’d come out of going to school with all these tough kids where the idea of having morals wasn’t really on the cards.

I have a memory of coming back from the toilet a very drunk luke telling Simon Reynolds in all seriousness “everything Barty [he calls me that in real life] says is a lie”. He didn’t notice I was there and poor old Simon looked horrified when he saw me. Eyes all wide like deer in the headlights.

One of the things I really cherish about Barty is that he hates seeing me drunk. He's like a good girlfriend in that respect. He likes seeing me at my best and anything else distresses him. That's useful to me. I dont need enablers.i hate that aspect of male friendship.

That’s projection about the drinking, but you’re right I like seeing you at your best. When you’re all anxious or flustered it saddens me.

I first starting hanging out with you when you were at god level and I remember everything went a bit wank for you at one point and being saddened at how uou were taking it.

I haven't worked out how to stay on the god level perpetually but I'm figuring out the rules. If it's a projection it's useful one and I'm keeping it
