Intelligence fluctuates drastically and when I'm in a stupid phase it would be nice to remind myself of when I was clever and what I thought. It's all a question of state specific memory I think.

I'm often struck by how clever I was (relative to how clever I feel now) on random dissensus threads I find.

As I say intelligence is subject to wild fluctuations thoughout a life. It doesn't steadily increase with experience. Sometimes we're in the peaks but most often, not.

Also it isn't always a solitary thing.

I'd be hard pressed to say now if I was thinking about these things before I wrote them down or as I wrote them down.

It's like jokes - they happen so fast that there's really no sense of forethought at all. But there must be.

Intelligence has to be prodded.

I used to tell the teachers at school that the situation creates the joke. It's not my fault for disrupting the class. I was just the mouthpiece. A very clever thing to say and 100% true.

Absolutely. The discipline and tedium of the classroom makes it inevitable. The system creates the Bash Street Kids.

A terrible terrible man but a cool quote. I always try and apply it on dissensus. Albeit sometimes after I've already lost my temper/succumbed to ego.
