and 6 ft is the line. anyone under (corsepy, version, sheils, yyyaldrin, etc) is a genetic midget anyone over (Leo, Danny, Eden) is a genetic lanky beanpole.

I'm not so sure,we like to, but do we gotta? It's possible but a certainty?

And then you get people gaming the stats, rounding up. Mind you, I support any 5'11'er who says he's 6-foot in his dating profile. That's a legal move as far as I'm concerned. If ladies want a symbol, give them a symbol.

You seem very excercised by this point, Spenny. Is there anything you want to get off your chest? We’re a sharing community.

Watched this video for the first time in probably 20 years

Very raunchy, but according to the comments, not raunchy enough for Madonna who was originally slated to duet but it wasn't rude enough for her.

It feels like there should be a good conspiracy theory post about it.

many prince songs need you to like prince the person/character/princeworld quite a bit. he was quite a big character in most of his songs. theres relatively few that dont require you to navigate around it. or navigate around his voice (the prince falsetto is also a bit of a deal breaker ive found for a lot of people. compared to other guys singing falsetto (dangelo for example), theres not that much tenderness). whereas with MJ, despite his pretty weird and unusual life, his records are much more 'normal', and accessible to the average person. thats partly cos theyre produced more typically (and just better, arguably, at least up to and including the bad album, then things start to get more 'of their time' and 90s) but also cos he made songs that were less odd and obviously U/PG rated. everyone likes MJ. prince is much more of an acquired taste. prince was sort of in love with his own brilliance (he doesnt often allow for that much 'vulnerability' in his vocals), and so was the audience, hes the one most people can admire, even if they dont like his music, but MJ is the one most people love.

A lot of people did also fall out of love with mj tho, cos of the obvious reasons.

Or it became like an issue they refused to address. My cousin to this day, massive Dan, wouldn't watch the recent doco by those two guys (I think their case got thrown out tho recently?)

But yeah, I wouldn't say Prince inspired a sense of love, more a sense of admiration like you say, cos he was so versatile.

The whole thing with prince from day one was him as this genius, he can play anything, do anything, tackle any genre, and I think that stuck. Youd see him or listen in hope of some of that feeling of inspiration striking. he was a cult/marmite artist. Mj was cultivated for megastardom.

Also prince very open about his sex drive from early on while mj had this whole issue about wanting to regain lost childhood

Prince also had cred from "serious" music critics and heads, whereas MJ was the mega pop star and a commercial top 40 hitmaker. Even though he was always on a major label, Prince was kind of underground at first. And aside from "Purple Rain", his hits were nowhere near the colossal commercial smashes of MJ's.

Also prince never left m8nneapolis said eff off to la unlike mj who took it all and went a bit mad as a result.

Prince was like factory. Mj more like warp.

I made some prince playlists in lockdown last year before cancelling my spotify subscription. The obvious/notable/unembarassing standouts got slimmer each decade.

90s (2 hrs) maybe I was a bit generous but some genuine gems here

2000s (45 mins) (good if you like rnb/smooth/easy listening prince or want to hear him covering joni)

2010s (30mins) (he got himself a co producer here, so the sound is more modern. save for stripping his music down, which was never going to happen, he prob needed it tbh. Genuinely think breakdown, way back home and time are 3 of the best things he made in the last 15 years)

The gun was princes version of gangsta imagery. I liked it in isolation. Bit silly when he was trying to aim at targets. the original promo, less produced version of gett off is worth finding though. also the MTV's awards performance with the see through bum.

Cream is one of his so good it doesn't matter if you like prince or not singles. The personality doesnt dominate excessively. A time when he could and would still craft classic pop. The diff between prince and mj is prince had more of a rock ego, mj was more rnb, he didnt assert his personality into the music. It was more about just making massive singles.

As I've said many times, side 1 of diamonds and pearls is about as perfect a side of a tape you could ever get.

One of those where you end up loving the filler like strollin'

love "cream" but don't think I ever listened to the album. just looked at Discogs and, shockingly, realized I stopped buying new prince albums about 30 years ago.
