I read some of Moldbug's post on the election the other day. It feels as though his audience is a hypothetical liberal or leftist he's constantly trying to "trigger". Case in point,
"Progressives see power as an end; conservatives see power as a means to an end. As soon as conservatives get even a sliver of power, they start trying to use this power to create good outcomes."

I know. It does read as the complete opposite of how a lot of people view conservatives these days though. It's as though he just flipped the liberal position around and went "no u".

So? He's not saying what he's just said is irrational. He's saying what he claims conservatives do when they get power is irrational.

I dont have a problem with that, personally. my main issue is with this idea of power as an "end in itself". similar to accelerationism, if moldbug took his own ideas seriously hed be a neoliberal, since (after all) they're in power

hes saying that trying to "do good" is irrational. what's rational is treating power as an end in itself

Yeah, but he's also making a blanket claim that conservatives do the former and not the latter which is complete bullshit.

I dont think its bullshit, it's quite accurate. what's bullshit is the idea that liberals treat power as an end in itself

If he were to go "Well, actually... " and clarify that he means actual conservatives and not the GOP then fair enough.

He just says "the American right" though. And it sounds as though he's making the exact same argument Adam Curtis made about progressives and the left.

I just read an interesting thing re: Parler on that note actually,
"For some Trump supporters, the whole point of politics is to “own the libs,” but on Parler, there are no libs around to own."

moldbug can't be described as "having ideas" so much as he does moving through them slowly and arduously, never arriving at a conclusion, only producing the permanent experience of moving towards a conclusion without ever arriving, the chain of reasoning always shriveling before finding a path
