While others suffer the torment of life without daily access to spring onions.

Onions are serious business..

Taiwanese police form task force to protect green onions

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Police have activated a “green onion protection” task force to help local farmers in Sanxing Township, Yilan County guard their produce from thieves.

Since the price of green onions went through the roof recently, four cases have been reported of people stealing the vegetable, leading to the formation of the task force.

Spent all week waiting for an oven. Wasted every single day on it. It might arrive tomorrow or Saturday, but it could be next week. Another lockdown of privilege. It’s going to weigh a few kilos, I can do the wiring and all and i'm grateful we have a gas hob at all

Thing is the depot is in Corby in Northants about 30mins away if i put my foot down on the M1, but a pickup collection wasn't an option

It's mind prolapsing that you can "bake" soda farls in a frying pan, then toast/butter and sprinkle with vegetables and chives ooh la la

Classic Rich, confusing me with the Vote Leave campaign.

It must all be very confusing for him, living in a world that is defined by more than the simple binaries of a referendum that happened five years ago.

As confused as soneone who constantly pops up to wade into a debate that they insisted wasn't happening...
Five whole years ago and partially enacted six months ago, with the next phase supposed to kick in next month - who on earth could possibly waste their time on that dim and distant event which is barely within living memory?
Anyway, keep trying to shut down discussion cos I am amused by the self-defeating nature of someone constantly insisting that there is no debate and that no-one cares or is talking about it.

In terms of wages and inflation, I thought this was interesting:

Be well worth keeping an eye on with the demise of furlough and possible future rises in inflation, as Rich rightly points out.

Where specifically did I say that the debate wasn’t happening @IdleRich ?

This is getting on for Mr Tea levels of misrepresentation.

There is the bit on Aug 23rd page 59 of this thread, half way down, where you said...

There is no debate.

And a bit earlier when you said

As with the smoking ban, there is no longer an argument about Brexit

You appear to be even more confused than I thought.

Just to avoid another overly literal reading as per the bus comment above, that inflation number above may not be the actual official value... that is to say I completely made it up.

There is no debate.

There are people who want the smoking ban reversed who wax lyrical about pubs were fuller, nicer and smelt less of farts. There are also people who hated their clothes smelling of smoke and getting cancer from passive smoking. But they don't actually debate with each other. There is no apetite to reverse the smoking ban.

And there is no apetite to reverse Brexit. Electorally, that was a complete non-starter at the last election. It's done. So you just get people posting empty shelves in supermarkets on one side and people on the other side saying that the shelves in their supermarket were full or that they don't mind not being able to get the specific brand of fizzy drink they usually buy. (Before Mr Tea pipes up, this is literally something somebody said on the Radio 4 'World At One Show' earlier today when I was having my lunch).

There is going to be a public inquiry into how the govt handled COVID. There is not going to be a public inquiry into Brexit. (I'm not a great believer in public inquiries myself, but there is leverage there and a chance to right wrongs of the past).

So I mean, whine away, if you enjoy it. I am sure there are many downsides to Brexit, so the moral high ground is completely secure if that is the path you want to take. I just don't think this will make any practical difference, beyond your own personal feelings.

In terms of Afghanistan there is a groundswell of opinion that can influence the government. It is not great odds but it is worth a go.
This is what I actually said.

You can cherry pick bits from the various things I have written to imply I am some kind of Tory scumbag if you like I guess. Mr Tea did that with suggesting something I had written was verging on anti-semitism.

It is dishonest though.

No wonder neither of you understands your fathers any more.

That is fucking mental.

I'm not trying to imply that you are any kind of Tory, I'm just "implying" or in fact, simply stating outright that - although you have rowed back from that nonsensical position - you said there was no brexit debate. Which you did. As you know, regardless of my relationship with my father. Is that really what you want to be saying here?

And how is that dishonest quoting? You wrote that line explicitly and separately as a kind of section heading or main point.
